#3 Posted: 2/27/2012 9:28:34 PM i just go to my local store and get a pair. If you buy expensive sunglasses you lose them. You can't get rid of cheapos. Ala the Jeff Foxworthy joke. |

#4 Posted: 2/27/2012 9:31:22 PM I never loose sunglasses, but I do break them.
Crushed a brand new pair of Oakleys under a car tire once.
They were less than a week old.

#5 Posted: 2/27/2012 9:37:22 PM Not a huge sunglasses guy, but do like the new Maui Jim glasses I got. Not sure how they compare with Oakley and RayBan, but could be worth a shot if you're looking for something new. |

#6 Posted: 2/27/2012 9:37:27 PM Biggest waste of money I've seen in recent years.
Buy imitation ones that will cost $10-$15 that look exactly the same off a street corner vendor and save yourself $200+. |

I used to think this until my insurance gave me $200 to put towards sunglasses and now I don't know if I'll ever go back to the knockoffs. |

#9 Posted: 2/27/2012 9:43:21 PM they're all made in china...what makes one pair of sunglasses different from the other when it's made from the same materials?

Polarized vs non-polarized is just a start... |

I've owned both and I actually prefer the knockoffs since I've stepped on/dropped/lost several pairs and only $50 total instead of $1000 had they been real... |

There is something to be said about having the freedom of not caring if you drop your sunglasses |

that's not a good enough reason for the price differential...
the same chinese manufacturer will produce x amount of glasses for oakley...and the left over stuff they sell on the black market for just dollars a piece.
go figure

#15 Posted: 2/27/2012 10:26:40 PM Costa del mar. Good for outdoorsmen or people that enjoy fishing. Will spend 150+, but if you happen to break, crack, scratch, (insert any screw up) your pair and send them in, they will repair and return them for the amount you'd spend on one of those "knock off" pairs. |

#22 Posted: 2/27/2012 11:38:37 PM Maui Jim Serengetti is a serious lens, real serious.
Oliver Peoples close too but more on style and not quite the inttensity of Maui. Sunglasses are big in this part of the country. I'll drop 150 + on a damn good pair - worth it. |

Not true Scal Wearing cheap sunglasses with no UV filters poses an even greater danger than wearing none at all because the pupils will dilate allowing more harmful rays into the eye. |
