I would have to say, Memphis has had the biggest collapse this year in football period. You can't lose a game yu're up 31-6 in the first half. Lucky for me, I took the +5.5 line. Anyway here's the deal for tonight:
West Virgina at South Florida: I feel like I've been here before. A young up and coming team facing one of the best teams in the conference. This game has a very interesting feel to it. I remember back in 98 I was in college and ESPN called it judgement day. An undefeated and on the rise UNC team lead by some guys named Dre Bly and Brian Simmons were facing the big bad Florida State Seminoles with Thad busby and Travis Minor leading the way. State hadn't really been playin well coming into that game, UNC were at home and a changing of the guard was in order. Well after about 3 quarters, the score was 20-3 State and if it wasn't for the defense which had about 6 productive future NFL players on it, it would have been worse. I bring this story up because this game looks like that one all over again except for the team colors. History has proven that when it's time for the new kids on the block to knock out the bully, they usually fall short not to mention hard. That has already happened this year with USC taking Nebraska to the wood shed and Ohio State doing the same thing to Washington. West Virgina's has reached USC status or Vince Young Texas status. In other words they have to stop themselves, no defense can, at least not the whole game. Besides the real matchup here is whether or not the USF offense can drop at least 24 points on WVA's defense. Last year's USF win was done with smoke and mirrors, with 4 turnovers and a defensive touchdown. I like the USF defense, but they haven't shown the punch on offense that they are going to need to hang with WVA. West Virgina 31-21 (WVA -7)

This game is setting up the exact same way and feel. Raymond James is going to be ROCKING tonight, and if USF comes out and can keep the emotions in check, than this one will be close.
Home teams have faired very well on weekdays this year...

I do agree with the play but I do not see WVU anywhere near USC or VY era Texas. WVU has a extremely powerful offense and it would be even better once they put both Devine and Slaton in the back field at the same time but until they learn to play some defense they will not be in the same category.
Once Rich learns how to properly use both Devine and Slaton they will be virtually unstoppable on offense. It is almost scary looking at the potential of that 3 headed monster of an offense and thankfully he has yet to unleash it.
While I do like USF and I am extremely impressed with what they have accomplished I just do not seem them covering this time.

I'll agree with that gator. I just feel White and Slaton are on that level where it's very difficult to stop them unless they make their own mistakes. Also remember this, white was hurt for this game last year so that has to be taken into account. I think USF can slow them down, but this ain't UNC where they is no chance of their offense gettin on track whereas WVA can put up points in bunches and from anywhere on the field. If USF can make them work for every point then they have a chance, but with WVA a blown assignment or a missed tackle or great execution on WVA's part and they are takin it to the house. I don't see USF defense holding up the whole game. GL

That'a nice write-up and you make great points. The only difference is that I don't see WVU '07 as a FSU '98 type team. You have to remember how dominant the FSU teams were in the 90's.
There is a big drop-off between the top 4 teams in the land and the rest of college football. And it remains to be seen, but Ohio St. might make a good case for top 5.
There is no question that WVU has an electrifying offense and they are fun to watch, but the don't have a defense like FSU in the 90's or Ohio State, LSU, USC, Oklahoma, Florida in the 00's.

Oh sorry I didn't mean to compare the teams, this WVA team has nothing on those teams back then. I was just making the comparision that the game feels the same way as that one did.
