Well guys the preseason mags are out. 4th of July is almost here and college football kicks off August 26th. We have some rules changes for the upcoming season as well as rules points of emphasis to officials. I will post them all here but 1st we have a rule that was TABLED by the rules committee and that was
The rules committee TABLED until next year a proposal to modify the targeting rule. If a player is called for targeting as we know he is ejected. The rule idea is after review if the ruling of targeting stands the player can't be ejected. He can only be ejected if the call is confirmed. I myself am not for or against it as I have a way to fix the rule which we can get into later. Now here are our rule changes:
1. On Field Goal's and PAT's you are no longer allowed to run towards the line of scrimmage and leap over any O-Linemen. It will be a 15 yard penalty on FG's with automatic 1st down. On PAT's it will be 15 yards on the kickoff
2. Players now MUST wear knee pads and pants that cover the knee
3. The name plate on the back of the jersey now in definition of the horse collar rule
Our points of emphasis from the committee to officials are as followed: These are designed to speed up the game
1. Promptly start the 2nd Half when the Halftime clock hits zero
2. Start clock immediately upon spotting the ball after ball carrier goes out of bounds outside the last 2 minutes of each half
3. 15 yard unsportmenslike conduct penalty on coaches coming on the field to argue a call{Over/Under 0.5 ejections for Jim Harbaugh?}
Those are our rules changes guys. Give your thoughts and BOL this season
