The interesting aspect of this matchup is that USC is one of the few teams outside the SEC that Alabama cannot overwhelm based on talent alone
So California-Texas-Ohio St-Florida St...perhaps Michigan after one more Harbaugh recruiting class
Not Oklahoma, not Clemson, not UCLA
A team needs an entire 2-deep of 4-star athletes to level the playing field with Alabama (Alabama actually gets close to having a 3-deep of 4-stars and can essentially fill a starting 11 with 5-stars)
I have always felt that Southern Cal can take the field on any Saturday and beat any team if they are so inclined...that includes this Saturday vs Alabama

Last time I checked, this was not a second tier bowl game....
Alabama will be 'bringing it'.....wouldn't doubt the Bama cappers on here, a lot of them have been successful in the right situation. Doubting them or Saban (he set this up) the first game is not the right situation
Beer is gotta be earned from winning or hard work. Andy Dufresne agrees.

Hurts is above the other two but saban wouldn't start him...I believe this is a great game with a great d going against a great o line....I would say it will stay single digits and be a tight great game...

Auburn fan here...and I agree that you should NOT take USC in this game.
USC runs a pro style offense, which straight up simply does not work against Bama's defense. It doesn't really matter who it is, outside of a few of LSU's most talented teams, teams cannot matchup at Alabama at every position and that's what it takes to stay with another pro style team when you're running pro style.
The only thing that might give USC a chance of covering this is:
A. It's a low scoring defensive game-Which is actually likely but generally when Saban has a long period to prepare for a game, bad things happen to the opposing team.
B. Bama makes mistakes. Turning the ball over, special teams breakdowns, etc. Bama has always had trouble covering returns :01 Bama fans :P, but all in all if you really want to wager your hard earned cash on a chance in the wind that Bama will have a bad ST/turnover game then it's not worth betting over some of the money currently on the board right now.
The only times you should bet against Bama I've learned though and feel good about it are:
1. Bama's playing a cupcake with an inflated line. Saban doesn't like to embarass the little guys, and chooses to give his scout team gametime experience whenever he can.

Bama is 7-1 ATS in season openers under Saban. 9-0 straight up.I wouldn't worry about who plays QB...not with that defense. Bama will be starting its third new signal caller the last three seasons.35-5 record and some championships.....................
And how often does Bama play USC? Or any non conference game that isn't a push-over? The Trojans could win outright

Im not a bama fan, but they win easily today. I think they win by 17, but I wouldnt be surprised if the win by 21+ .....Kiffen will have a few aces up his sleeve for this game.
