I like Arkansas in that game. Should be much improved. A lot of veterans and depth according to Steele. Was supposed to look at ULL but havent gotten to it yet because of baseball/US Open wagers...like them at that number though.

I think ULL is going to give a great effort but not come close to covering that game- They have a very good up and coming coach who has done a great job at ULL but they will be over matched this game. The "unknown" of this new Arkansas squad with the recent success of ULL has lots of people taking the points. And everyone remembers ULM almost knocking off Arkansas last year. I like Arkansas to take this one 31-17 or something in that range.

I completely understand why in this situation many would like ULL and, were I not an alum and fan who follows Arkansas perhaps more closely than any other team, I would likely join them. Still, I'm on the hogs and I'm pasting a post from a couple weeks ago that gives my reasoning. GL.
"Agree a lot with HuckPig’s assessment of the game – I’ll have a standard 1U wager on the Razorbacks to cover - here’s why I like the game:
Arkansas is going to be *much* more physically dominant this year than last, due to tremendous effort/intensity and work habits from the team and, universally praised by everyone, it’s fantastic S&C coach Ben Herbert this offseason (Wisconsin fans will agree);
Brandon Allen is better than those who don’t know him think. Hog fans have known this for a long time – he was 16 for 17 in the spring game and the one incompletion was a drop. He is not going to be asked to do too much game 1 – move the chains & sustain drives which he is absolutely capable of doing. Highly poised, mature and talented decision maker.
Jonathan Williams & Alex Collins will make an extremely formidable RB tandem, and Kiero Small is by BB’s account one of the best blocking fullbacks he’s ever coached. If you haven’t seen tape on Collins, there’s a reason he was a 5* recruit and top 3 in the nation at his position. He has fantastic speed & incredible burst off the cut; he's also powerfully built with a low center of gravity and hard to knock off his feet. He will get double digit carries in this game and look for at least one of them to get to 2nd level, cut/reverse the field, leave the safety holding his jock & and go for 40/50 yards against ULL.
Arkansas will be better in the trenches on both sides and the better conditioned team – see pt #1 above. They will wear down ULL in the 2nd half and punch in 2 TDs or more in the 4th quarter.
Arkansas will be very disciplined and will not have many penalties or turnovers – a huge emphasis by the coaching staff this year;
Situations where new coaches starting their tenure at a new school, at home, with the more talented team, are my favorite. They love to get a big win to start their regime at the new school – and BB will absolutely keep starters in, build reps, gain continuity/confidence, and get a big, convincing win in his first game as Razorback HC if afforded the opportunity.
My biggest concern is ULL’s QB & their dynamic passing game. Hopefully our DL will get a consistent push (I think they will as it is a strength of the team – the best DL ULL will see all year, including Kansas St.), and the secondary is experienced. Razorbacks are also not afraid to blitz.
Arkansas pulls away in the 2nd half to a 21 point win at home; let’s call it 38-17. Yes, I am an alum and a homer, but I like the play. Go hogs!

bielema does not have the personnel in place at arkie to run what he did at wisky so will he use the talent in place and open up the passing game or play big 10 slow down ball?
too early to tell so i do not want to give points to a known entity in LA Lafayette.
also do not want to take only 10 pts in this spot.

ULM beat Arky last year
Arky new Qb, walk on starting @ MLB, untested players on both sides of the ball for Ark, zero returning recievers that actually played much, those that did are injured. 3pm kick with a high in the upper 90s

I actually think this game should sail over the total... ULL has zero defense but absolutely legit on offense. I could see Arky D giving up 3-4 tds and seeing a final of 45-24

im not saying take ULL here but they have an explosive offense and a talented quarterback in terrance broadway....they should have beat florida o the road last year but had that block punt against them in the final minutes....arkansas remember lost to ul monroe last year at home and they will have an unproven qb in this game
to be honest i have no idea what to expect from arkansas this game and i would never bet it ..... i did take ull in my office pool

I live in NWA and follow the hogs closely and this is what I posted in a different thread.
I am a homer with Arkansas but I know all about ULL. I would have personally taken ULL if Brandon Allen didn't look good but the kid has looked amazing so far. ULL will have a hard time stopping our running game and I figured they could load the box but like I said, BA is tossing the ball around quite well so we will have a balanced attack. All of our starters in LB core are seniors and we have one of the top DE's in the country. Our secondary is the weak link but they aren't terrible by any means. I think this game starts off some what close like 17-7 at half time. I think it balloons in the second half to something like 35-13 by the end. ULL just doesn't have depth up front to compete for an entire game against our O-line. GL either way.

Pimp may be onto something in suggesting the over (59) in this game. Could just turn into a shootout. 36-27 or 42-28...something like that. Which team covers is a crapshoot to me.

That's correct I meant to say everyone remembers ULM beating Arkansas and then ULL beating ULM soundly- also the Cajuns bringing in a new defensive coordinator and losing both really good offensive tackles from last year concerns me

i think we keep it close the hogs have a lotta new starters plus a few linbackers out not saying the cajuns can win it outright but i see this game going down to the wire nip and tug all the way the hog may hold on but by a nose....hogs 38 cajuns 37....
