Yes, I know its early, but I am tired of seeing the infighting going back and forth and I thought I would offer my preliminary picks and analysis for week 1 for your scrutiny...
I have done my preliminary research prior to review P Steele...here are the matchups I like in week 1 as of 28 May 2013...
Based On BetOnLine Lines as of 28 May 2013
1) Texas -42 over New Mexico State
Yes, I am a homer. Yes, the jury is still out on D Ash at QB. But, Texas RB corps is as good as anyone in the country (2 #1 RB's in Brown and Gray and top 10 with Bergeron). All three will be 1st or 2nd day NFL draft picks. I think Texas has a huge chip on its shoulders. The think (or at least hope) the days of M Browns BS gentrified fatherly crap is over. He's pissed and he knows his legacy is on the line. Texas has as much talent as anyone in the country including Alabama, they just have not been coached up at that level. NM St is really bad, like #124 ranked bad. I know big chalk is scary in week 1, but I think the Texas fan base is pissed, Mack is pissed, Diaz is fighting for his job and Texas returns 19 starters including all the skill position players on O (sparing 1).
Texas 56
New Mexico St 3
2) Pitt -7 over Florida State (I see this line going up to -10 by game time...
The RS Freshman Winston taking over from Manuel was a 5 Star QB who had a 1 year to mature. I know FSU has dropped some games they should have won (NC State and Fla) last year, but I see a team that is motivated, with a good secondary, with most of the OL returning, wanting to come out and make a statement. FSU has an easy schedule until they hit Clemson on Oct 19.
I also like...
3) Oklahoma State -8 over Miss St
4) Northwestern -6 over Cal
5) Alabama -17.5 over Va Tech (the number will go up by game time)

Since you follow Indiana, just wanted your perspective on the Indiana/Wisconsin rivalry. Why does Wisconsin run up the score on them if they can? (62-14,59-7,83-20,31-28,55-20,33-3) last 5 years. One close game and 1 cover in the last 5 years. Do these teams hate each other or what? And do you think this trend could continue this year.
