Hey Boom ... regarding Auburn, I saw the spring game and taped it, and liked what I saw. Sure there were some mistakes - Wallace threw one piss poor INT into coverage and put the ball on the ground in a muffed hand-off exchange, but I think from the time DoubleUp went to practice and the spring game, the light bulb went on in terms of grasping this up-tempo, fast, play-action type of offense (my favorite kind to watch from a fan perspective).  Agree with DoubleUp that the DL is good, the CBs are young, and overally perhaps a little undersized for the SEC -- however, there is a ton of speed on that team and they're athletic; slightly disagree re: QBs and RBs - the QBs are good enough that if they understand the offense and take what the defense gives them, they will be fine - they don't need to be Dan Marino.  I really like Artis-Payne -- he is a top caliber SEC back.

I think Auburn will be one of the surprises of this season and one of the biggest turnarounds.  I'll go out on a limb and say they go from 3-9 to 9-3 this year.  I was impressed....

gw - good info - I now have Auburn on my prelim watch list for week 1 WSU and week 2 Ark St.   I think they will be underrated to start the season.   keep the updates come, bro!  Cheers

If Martavis Bryant can stay focused He will be in for a huge splash in 2013 as the #2 WR for Clemson. 6'5 Beast WR with 4.4 speed

The Gus Bus has veteran SEC coaches all over the field, and you can tell they are trying to do things the right way.  One of the biggest thing I noticed is that the guys are being coached from A to Z, and are being held accountable for everything they do (on and off the field).  Malzahn is a good leader, and you can tell he's a winner.

I was mainly focusing on the offense, but defensively their front 4 definitely looked to be SEC caliber.

They seem to be improving at linebacker, but of course that's the only direction they can possibly go from last season.  Perhaps they looked better because Jake Holland was in class.  I don't know what he's studying, but whatever it is I hope he's better at that than he is at linebacker.  He certainly isn't a SEC-caliber LBer.  On the other hand I think Casanova McKenzie is going to be a player.

In the secondary, their safety play looked to be decent, but they are hurting at corner.  Therezie and Holsey are physical corners, but are slight in stature.

At quarterback, Jonathan Wallace ran with the ones, but he and Kiehl Frazier were both terrible.  Quote from Gus: "Quarterbacks - hey it's time to grow a set [of nuts] and play.  It's time to grow up."

He was pissed at the offensive side of the ball - no tempo and no leadership.  The QBs consistently missed wide open receivers and threw INTs.  Unless that Marshall kid comes in and lights the world on fire in August, they're in big trouble at QB.  I don't see how they can win more than about 5 or 6 games with Jonathan Wallace or Kiehl Frazier under center.

They'll be fair to good on the OL. Greg Robinson is a legit LT.  Overall they're a little undersized for this league, but they're pretty mobile which is good for a Gus Bus offense.  Dismukes looked ok, but seemed a little light to me.  Avery Young is athletic as hell but is soft as cotton candy.

The running backs are serviceable at best.  Artis-Payne has a nice burst, and Corey Grant could be their next Onterrio McSideline.  Tre Mason was limited, and they had Reed playing WR.  I will say that Jay Proesch could be a good Lutzenkirchen-type weapon.  He fills that HB roll pretty well.

Their wide receivers are woefully below SEC standards. Ricardo Louis looks decent, but other than him, no one really stands out.  I was very unimpressed.

In summation, this was only one practice, but my take is that Auburn is on a promising trajectory with the coaching staff they have in place, but are at least a SEC-calber QB and two excellent recruiting classes away from being a major factor in the SEC West.  The high water mark for this team this season is bowl eligibility.

Unbelievable insight. Great work jimmy.

Auburn could struggle again IMO. That half of the league they are in is brutal. Auburn going bowling is what they should shoot for

Boom, whats up man?Cant wait until Phil Steele's magazine comes out.Thats when u know CFB is right around the corner.I really like your top 10 and I think Oregon's Qb will be invited to the Heisman.Do u think this is Saban s best team is ever put on the field?I think Yeldon is Bo,Barry,Hershel good especially since he wont share as many carries.U know Florida did win@Kyle Field, beat Lsu & South Carolina convingly then just took FSU out to the woodshed...and nobody hates Florida more than me.Muschamp will find a way for that defense to be good and their Qb and off line have to be better.Muschamp is like Saban with his work ethic.A lot of these SEC fans are making a big deal about one of the SEC offices being in North Carolina. When Slive was asked about NC St/Tarheels it was like he left the door open,I dont put much stock in it....@Jimmy,I have no idea how Jake Holland gets on the field. It seems like everytime he is out there he is either waving his arms back being put on his back or somebody is breaking thru his awful arm tackling. My blood pressure goes up when he is on the field.I want to tell myself there is just no way Wallace or Frazier start. If there is anyone who can fix this Qb problem its Gus.Ive got to think Nick Marshall or even the fresman Mr.Alabama football/All-State basketball player will be an upgrade.Im always optimistic about my Tigers..It cant get any worse than last year...Boom,I wish u would give us a top 10 every week from now until the week after National Title game.Good read...just my 2 cents,I think PennSt will win its case against the NCAA and will be elgible for post season play right after..U got to love Gameday being in Death Valley...As a kid,I remember when Georgia-Clemson was one of the biggest games of the year Nationally.I still think Clemson beating soph Hershel,Georgia in 1981 is its biggest regular season win in school history. To this day,I still cant believe Auburn won that 2010 game vs Clemson. So many rivalries I miss that dont play every yr=Clemson vs Georgia,Alabama vs GaTech,PennSt/Pitt,Okla-Nebraska,Miami vs Gators,Auburn vs Tennessee...Boom,Ive got this gut feeling Florida travels to Miami and gets beat on Sept.7th.Do u agree and do u think this young hot shot in Coral Gables gets it turned around this year.Boom,Iv tried to friend u,but it wont allow me to.Did u see how low Stanford s recruiting class was?

Boom,  Glad your back after that stupid bet you made. I like having a knuckle head like you around.  I was afraid you would have the character  to never post again after you embarrassed yourself with a wild tongue. Pleased to to see you again no matter your many failures.

We don't need need no f..... character guys around here. Screw a promise.

Lets have a crazy good year. Love your post.  Just cut back on the drinking before you make some off those off the wall beats.
