That figures. At least one guy paid up. That's really a terrible thing to do. It'll be interesting to see if he shows his face around here.

All you have on the Internet is your word.
Its a shame others do not have character.

Not trying to dog Mafioso here as I like the guy -- but why are we giving him so much credit for paying up when he lost a bet? That is what he should do!!!

Kind of like a boss giving an employee credit for showing up to work on time.

The genesis of the bet was hatched in post #31 of this thread.

http://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=33&sub=101492942&page=1

Ultimately we exchanged PMs and B&T agreed to take Notre Dame +13.5 for $100.

Indeed.

I thought I would give him a week or so to sulk, but the sulking period has expired.

There are other posters on Covers such as Monkeybongos, 29 and others who have promptly paid bets that they lost.  I have also paid on those occasions when I have lost.  There are several posters like B&T who, after losing, have never been seen or heard from again.  There is a poster who I gave Michigan @ +16.5 early in the season who didn't pay.  I'd have to look up his user name because it's not coming to me at the moment.

Betting between reputable posters who are good for their word is really a much better way to bet because it cuts out the middleman.  I mean, who wouldn't want to bet with a book that pays out but charges no vig???  Think about it.  Thus, even though mafioso lost his bet he didn't have to pay vig on top of his loss.  In other words, he got great terms on his bet.

Glad to hear it turned out right...  I take people for their word until they prove me wrong...  There are a lot more good people in here than flakes... I refuse to think of even the newest poster in here to be a flake until they prove that they are... it's just how I roll...

You may have a solid future in the" Investment Banking Business".
I even feel better for Mafioso now knowing the vig did not add
insult to injury.  " Roll Tide"

All this for a 100....geez I thought it was a big bet or something. He may pay that eventually. If it was a dime or something you'd never get it. Jimmy is da man though..hope you get paid. I'll keep that in mind what you said in 17 if I disagree with you. What you use pay pal?

So wait a minute...  Mafioso is actually a stand up guy but he continues to vouch for Boom_Boom, who is a proven welching loser.  Did I get that right?  That's odd.
