aw well, finally over should be the last transfer, good get for OU albeit for one year

cant blame him, ou wrs suspended jones>mcgloin

always have said he's been one of the most talented guys on the team and a big disappointment, but i give him a slight benefit of the doubt with horrid qb play last two years.  hope he does well there.

thisguy,

What offense is left from PSU? Mcgloin can't pass/catch and run all by himself.

Even giving 7 to OU is tempting in week 1, I have no doubt in PSU's D, but what can we see from the offense?

this is one move that makes a lot of financial sense...

*as he has a much greater chance of getting drafted earlier now....than if he had stayed.......(probably).....

Will fill a bigger need in OU's kicking game than at wideout.

I could not answer that question even with Redd and Brown, seeing McGloin is coming back to start (should be Paul Jones) and BOB is bringing in new offense that was work in progress in spring.

That said, I will tell you Bill Belton will surprise many at RB position and with Dukes (power back) coming back they should be effective running the football against lesser opponents.  The o-line has been a ? coming into the season with 4 new starters but the line looked real good in spring and it was not a strong suit last year, you could see improvements there, i personally think you will even with the new starters. Wrs will be Robinson (who BOB loves), Kersey (who would start this yr regardless), and Alex Kenney will move into the slot.  I dont think BOB minds, he likes smaller wrs for this offense, think Pats, who sans Moss for 2 strong years, have always preferred smaller wrs (troy brown, stallworth, edelman, welker, and now brandon lloyd).  Not to mention they use the tight ends a lot and the top 3 from spring game are back including early enrollee 6'7 frosh Jesse James)  dont think too much about Haplea, 6 recs in 3 years and 4th on depth chart.

As I stated in another thread, the offensive system and new staff have as much to do with the Redd and Brown transferring as any.  Not to mention McGloin.

This may seem strange but i think the transfers of Redd (who if stayed would have left for nfl after this season) and the senior Brown will help the younger guys get more experience.

If you would have told me these would be the only transfers after that dreaded ncaa announcement, i would take it and move on all day.  Redd was pretty good no doubt, but the future is still in tact with all the underclassmen staying including true frosh RB Lynch who almost went to Iowa and now will also get pt.

Time will tell, as i remain optimistic, dont really have a choice.  Its not like they can play for a bowl game after all, so i think using this year to plan for the next few with Hack and Bren is the best way to go.

But about ohio game, i would not factor Brown into any point spread this year, seriously.  Redd, yes.

mcgloin needs to learn how to pass before he can catch.

i wonder what this will do to the line...

and i do think it will be a big addition early on, since they will not have a lot of experienced depth at WR, even though they will have a lot of talented depth...

also, seems like with so many inexperienced WRs, it is all the more reason for Stoops to give Jones extra target practice deep into the 2nd half, to make sure he gets the timing down with his young WRs...

this would date back to 1992 and you would be omitting kerry collins, darryl clark, and michael robinson led teams that won rose, orange, and capital one bowls (over mighty lsu) respectively.  But overall yes, they have not had great offenses in the last 20 years, because they have not had to with their great defenses.  for all the crap mcqueary has gotten, i was the first one calling for his head as a terrible football coach the last two years especially, and jay paterno was probably the worst offensive coordinator in football.  Galen Hall came in and advised and saved this offense with Robinson and Clark installing the spread HD, to much success with the proper qbs running it.  So with those two gone, and BOB leading the offense, i think you will see a spike just in systems and play calling more than anything.

you could call O'Brien dumb with his Ivy degree, or you could call him smart signing a contract that adds years if there were any sanctions, which there were, thus giving him a guaranteed contract now for 8 years setting him up for life.

even though could be decent pickup,  for team major teams already loaded with players...should have almost no effect on number....similar to USC movement so far...none

@packers1992 - bill o'brien knew exactly what he was doing..instead of negotiating a buyout in the contract, he did the exact opposite - his contract was auto-extended if sanctions were imposed. he is now locked in for 9 years of job security at an incredible salary.

well wise has proven what a homer he is thats fine because they'll win because of free weights and because O'Brien's kid has seziures says this guy is wise. penn state could have hired Judas Iscariot and saddam hussein as the DC and wise would say what great people they are

You shoula hired Golden or Mike Leach. leach would have turned your fred flintstone offense around. Not like you care about charcter at penn state. hell you aided and abetted a pedophile for 13 years

regardless of his skills as a coach, you were crapping on his skills as negotiator... my only point was he was smart enough to secure himself over $18 million for his services, regardless of results on the field.   The man has done well for himself relatively speaking to 99.8% of the population.

Your comments and views are VERY predictable....Something bad happens, in the begining with impending punishments, you thought it was no big deal and no punishment will be given (because its not in the RULEBOOK) , then the sanctions come and you TOTALLY FLIP OUT, Players begin leaving and yousay its not that big of a deal...AND I FEEL LIKE ALL PENN STATE FANS FEEL LIKE YOU DO (BASED ON THE FAN  INTERVIEWS, THE PATERNOS REACTION, AND THISGUYISWISES COMMENTS) YOUR FEELINGS THAT LOSING STRARTERS IS NO BIG DEAL WAS COMPLETELY PREDICTABLE...YOU HAVE PENN STATE PSYCOSIS!!SEEK HELP NOW!!

4the love of $$ thinks that lack of institutional control isnt a requirement for NCAAF!! The sanctions have been levied; the players are leaving and the program is left in shambles, BFD its penn state; who cares about Penn state????????Their done end of story!! Why are you arguing??
