Key: Any early thoughts about Playoffs? Looks like an NL year. Nobody scares me in the AL. Indians BP looks solid now with Allen and Miller. But they still have a # 4 hitter who K's every 3rd AB.

Nothing yet, especially not a league. The rule is get hot at the right time. Then anything can happen.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

Liking the Cubs is easy, liking the juice is not, but I may pull the trigger on that one yet, considering it is the last game of the day and the line is dropping. Sometimes patience is called for.

Given their options at the trade deadline, as a gift from Heaven, the
Yankees would have dumped Luis Severino for a hot cup of coffee and a bagel. If
any idiot GM makes a play for him later the waiver wire won’t be a problem. This
disaster has been beaten by all 8 of the opposing pitchers he has faced and has
turned in only 1 quality performance. He is not likely to have the best day of
his season against the Rays, who hit, and score, versus right handed starters
slightly better than the Yankees. Conservatively, with no other factors
considered, Odorizzi is -223 versus Severino. The Yankees do not have the
superior offense and in fact, the only thing they do have going for them is
HFA. Yankee lovers are good at jumping a bandwagon and that is what they see
today, but the facts and probability are much different.
Twins -114, Volquez/Santiago
Santiago has not yet impressed with the Twins but the Royals offer him
his golden opportunity. Out of the break they have not posted even 1 quality
performance versus a lefty starter. They are 0-9 with an oera of just 1.95.
Volquez is a serviceable righty with a 12-12 quality start record this year but
faces a Twins offense that has posted 7 quality performances their last 11
versus righty and has established a 7.71 oera. No comparison, Twins are dirt
cheap at -114, and still cheap up to -130, just in case you don’t get in early.
