I saw this post and thought" I only have so many hours in a day...and I could write about your topic to no end". Signing Russell Martin for that amount of money was absurd...sure he can call a game, is above average defensively, but he definitely isn't worth $82 million...especially when Navarro is a much better contact hitter and Thole can catch when needed. What a waste. And that ridiculous investment that brought Dickie and Johnson here....seriously...that amount of money on a knuckleballer(regardless of Cy)? And a Johnson who everyone could see was on a fast track downward spiral?
They don't get it...it baffles me every year how legions of fans year in, and year out can see what we need is pitching. We have a lineup that hits every year without fail. And with Gibbons pitching what we have will fade out quickly...case in point the other night in Houston, down 4-2 going into the 8th and Bheurle is at 103 pitches. I'm watching thinking" Does Gibbons not know a) the age of Bheurle, b) the season's just under way, we might need that arm at some point past the month of June....and b) The BP sucks but for God sakes man use an ounce of common sense and see that it's one game out of 160. The man makes no sense, he's baffling.
Until someone gets into management that sees we need another Doc, or Hentgen, we will go nowhere.
