I like the business the Brewers may have going with the Reds. We know the Reds gave up on the fight for the division and the Brewers are very interested in winning the division this year. Remember this , "The Cincinnati Reds acquired right-handed pitchers Kevin Shackelford and Barrett Astin from Milwaukee on Wednesday as the players to be named in the Aug. 31 trade that sent right-hander Jonathan Broxton to the Brewers."
That trade speaks volumes. It allowed the Reds to dump a 7 million dollar setup man's salary this year and smoothed out the future of the pitching for the Reds. The unwritten part of this agreement is that the Brewers want to win now, and the Reds don't. So, the way the Reds sweeten the deal, my opinion & my hypothesis, is that the Reds play up for St. Louis and down for Milwaukee. Yes, the Reds just swept St. Louis and now they will get swept by Milwaukee. That's not evidence of my opinion, but it just seems like part of the business to me.
