No one else in the country has written much negative about Remy especially in the wake of his son pleading guilty to murder and he'll go to jail for life. So i guess i have to be the one to do this. In the wake of what has transpired i believe Remy has no business in that Red Sox booth going forward
The Boston and national media have protected Remy mainly IMO to make sure they can get interviews down the line but i believe in the truth. The truth is Remy enabled his son over years and years with jobs and paying for high priced lawyers who got his son's charges dropped time and time again as Jared Remy threatened to hurt women, Had at least 20 incidents with the law and eventually killed a woman. Remy supported him and got him a job as a security guard at Fenway park. Jared Remy's job was to protect peopleYeah that's a guy i want to protect me
But Remy failed with his 2 other children who have had multiple incidents with police over the years so basically as a parent Jerry Remy is 0-3. So while Remy was playing air guitar on the desk in the Fenway Booth his kids were destroying lives.
I will say Jerry Remy isn't a monster... BUT he didn't stop a monster the monster who was his son. He enabled his son and even told the murder victim the day before she was killed not to get a restraining order against him. She didn't and the next day you know the story.
I don't expect the Red Sox to fire Remy because well they're the Red Sox. But i'm suprised Remy believes he can go back to the booth and play air guitar and act like nothing happened. I guess thats living in denial which i choose not to live in.
I assume this will come up from some one saying"Packers what would you do in his shoes know-it all" Well #1 i wouldn't enable my son. #2 i would feel as though it would be insensitive to be in that booth especially in light of what has happened. And i'd resign from the job. Why? because its the right thing to do
I don't expect people to agree with me but thats my opinion

I don't disagree with you about the son, but parents will always try to help and support their kids. My parents believed my sister was an angel and she's a piece of crap a lot of the times. She just knows how to lay it on them. I don't think what his son has done should affect his job though. Just my opinion.

Remy's children are not "children" anymore. They are competent adults (assumingly) who have made a series of bad decisions in life. Everyone's actions should be independent of itself. Remy cannot hold his son's hand throughout life nor should he. He could have possibly been a great parent, only his inner circle knows.
Should you hold Jerry Remy accountable? Possibly to an extent. He may have not instilled values and discipline to his son, but maybe he tried (son's a bad apple). Not all murderers come from bad households.
To say that he should be excluded from the booth is not something you or I should suggest, but rather Remy himself. He may feel odd being back in the booth after this incident but it is his livelihood and everyone deserves the right to make a living. Ultimately, if Remy feels he can handle the negative spotlight, so be it.

You know me, everyone' entitled to their opinion and I would never take attempt to take that away from anyone, but this kind of thinking is very dangerous and I couldn't disagree with it more.

well 3 people who commented in my thread are wrong why am i not shocked? I can't believe people don't believe Remy being in the booth isn't insensitive but then again i guess i'm one of the few who actually thinks

The moral compass of Covers.com strikes again.
Far be it from me to even attempt to compete with such a titan of intellect, but have you at any moment stopped to consider that there is no "right" answer here?
Is this an issue so plain and obvious that anyone who disagrees with your assessment must be deemed a non-thinker?
Twenty-two years old and you already have the world figured out.

20 year olds (especially males) are mostly the dumbest people on the planet. They think they have the world and people figured out. Hey I have been there before. TO all the 20 year olds out there one day, wait for it..... life will kick your teeth in and you won't care for stupid posts like this one,

JARED REMY WAS THE KING of second chances. A review of hundreds of pages of court files and police records revealed accounts that he terrorized five different girlfriends starting when he was 17, and that courts repeatedly let him off with little more than probation and his promise to stay out of trouble. He rarely did.
Now 35, Remy has been arrested or brought to court as the defendant in 20 different criminal cases, mostly for charges of violence against, or intimidation of, women

Because brent the Red Sox are boobs. Hell they play Sweet Caroline at their ballparkdon't expect the Red Sox to do the right thing
Another young 20's ideologue who has spent too much time in class and too little in the real world.
Contrary to your belief, you are not a moral compass, and your opinions are just that - opinions. No one (including the Red Sox organization) has reason to kowtow to your personal, moral code.
I don't care one way or another about the Red Sox or Jerry Remy, but this country is heading down a dangerous path because of people like you, Packers.

Your absolutely right.....maybe if Remy would have took the time to get help for himself he would have been told that the 1st thing he should do is drop the hammer and stop enabling.....I know it's hard, but it proves time after time to produce the best results
