Any time i turn on the tv you have people who are whining about the new replay system. I guess i'm the only 1 who likes it. I think the replay system is very good. Are there flaws?Obviously especially with the dumb transfer rule. When i heard about this being implemented for this season i thought this will be a tire fire. But overall i like replay and the main reason is i hate umpires and i like when they get made to look stupid.
If you've ever read any of my baseball stuff you know that i'm done with umpires as a whole and i'm hopeful in the next few years we'll have the computerized strike zone. And i'm sorry i like when they get made to look like the incompent a-holes that most of them are. Going forward i'd like to see a few tweaks to the system such as:
1. A replay umpire in the stadium
2. If a manger wins 2 challenges he gets a 3rd. If he wins a 3rd he gets a 4th etc.
I'm not shocked by the negativity i'm shocked that there are still people who want the "Human element" in baseball and they're tradionalists. Guess what tradition died a long time ago. MLB is an 8 billion dollar business partly due to a DH,and interleague play etc. Get rid of replay? I want more
I'll ask you gentlemen. Do you like replay or am i the only 1

I like it as well. When I really hate it though, is when they use it and it still appears to the home audience/announcers its still incorrect. Use it, but ensure you get it right,

dion 1st off in packers world guys like angel,West,Davidson would be gone
2. What about creating replay umpires in a booth? You're giving 15-25 extra jobs to people who's job it would be to look at the replays
Watching the Tiger game yesterday Impemba and Allen didn't have a clue{But then again they rarely do} about the play at 1B that Scioscia challenged. They're like i think he's out. I was half paying attention because its hard for me to watch baseball. I looked at it once and like he's safe.
FYI not that most care but i like to call baseball games but its hard for me to watch baseball as a fan

I think most reasonable fans like instant replay to help the umps get it right.
Anything that takes the umps ego's out of the game is a good thing.
People seem to laugh at the thought now... but I am supportive of a virtual strike zone. Sick of the different attitudes of plate umps dreaming up their own strike zone, with their own bias for players or teams.

Good to see you back around Packers. As I said in the winter I am a traditionalist at heart, the DH sucks even though it has been around my whole life and I like the human element. That said I also said I understood replay was what the masses wanted and I can accept it, getting more calls right is a good thing. Obviously there needs to be some fine tuning and that is to be expected. Freddie Freeman pretty obviously fouled one off his foot the other day. Mets make a throwing error and Braves score two runs. Play is not reviewable under current rules. It benefited me but that has to be reviewable if we are going to have this mostly all encompassing replay. I am also fine with the replay war room and not adding an in stadium umpire. The in stadium umpire at every game would make umpiring crews 5 man crews and if you are with a group all the time the benefit of the doubt might be a little more likely to go with your boys in a bang bang situation. What I do think is that the replay guys in New York should be full time guys never umpiring games to alleviate some of those same concerns. I also think they could have the manager or someone in the clubhouse user a buzzer system immediately before the manager makes the slow walk stall out to see if he wants to challenge a play. That way the guys doing the review can already have the play cued up and start reviewing the play prior to an official challenge. We would then have shaved off quite a bit of time and would have some decisions be almost instantaneous. Your change number two I agree with 100 percent.

It needs to be tweaked as Tigermike said.... It doesn't make a lot of sense to have plays that aren't reviewable (Freeman play)... just like last year in college football with the targeting rule (still a 15 yard penalty even if review proves that it was not a penalty). There will be changes made to it in the off season.... I just hope that nothing like that happens in the postseason that changes the outcome of a big game, then they will just look foolish
