Another case where Scott Boras has harmed his client. Yes we all know how good he wasn't down the stretch last year, but one would think someone would have signed him to a reasonably priced one year deal.  He may end up having to settle for a minor league deal with an invite now.

Lots of FA in the same boat.  Few teams want to surrender a first round draft pick for the privilege of signing an overpriced FA.  Boras will gamble that teams change their minds when spring training failures and injuries rear their ugly heads.  And they will.

Sorry, I was wrong.  For some reason I thought the Tigers extended a qualifying offer to Valverde.  In which case any team that signed him would have to forfeit a first round draft pick.  No QA by the Tigers so that isn't the case.  Any team can sign him without giving up a pick.

What are the Tigers going to do about a closer?  Stay within their organization and let Benoit, Rondon or Villerreal fight it out in spring training?

Rondon will be the closer. Villerreal is hurt.
