7:05 EST - Atlanta Braves (-103)

The jury is still out on Kris Medlen - as he hasn't thrown enough innings to qualify in most season long databases - but this kid has been unbelievable for the Braves in his few starts.  In fact, he's my #3 ranked pitcher in baseball.  The Nationals have never faced Medlen and the Braves have the best bullpen in baseball so essentially they're up against the best pitching that professional baseball has to offer.  Throw onto the fire a top 10 ranked offense (I know they're missing Bourne and Ugla, but the line-up is still quite strong tonight).  Add onto that the importance of this game in the division and the avoid the sweep angle and you can see why I like the Braves at pk'em odds.

And if you're looking for a good reason to fade Detwiller... just look at his K/9 ratio in August.  Disgusting.  I don't think his garbage will last for long against a powerful and motivated Braves offense that has already seen him (and had success) earlier this season.

Tonight's theme will be revenge.  I already won my money back with a parlay on the Rays.  I'm betting the Braves avoid the sweep.  And I like the Yankees and Dodgers tonight as my strongest leans.

I should point out in my write-up that Medlen hasn't STARTED against the Nationals this season, he's pitched against them in relief for a few innings however so it's not total unfamiliarity.  Still, I like what this kid is throwing as a starter, just nasty stuff.

Detwiller is vulnerable against righties and the Bravos have 7 guys swinging from that side of the plate tonight.  I like this line-up almost from top to bottom.  Should do some damage.

Probably benefits the Braves, more time to get pissed that they've yet to win a game this series.  They also have a much better BP.  Bring on the rain.
