I like Nashville this year, but don't see the value in them winning the Division with Chicago, Dallas and St.Louis all in there... +600 to win the West and +1300 to win the Cup are a few I will look at.
Wings are intriguing me.... young guys coming up and Mrazek getting better.. they sit at +1200 to win the East

"The Magnificent Predlies" are 10-1 "to win" Western Conference @ William-Hill
fab14's Flames could have a "bounce back" season now that they have a competent goalie in former Blues Brian Elliott. they are @ 30-1 Western Conference
Devils are back up to 40-1 "to win" Eastern Conference. they could make the playoffs on their goaltending and Taylor Hall, Ben Lovejoy and Vernon Fiddler all good offseason pick ups. they opened @ 100-1
"Wile E Coyote" @ 40-1 "to win" Western Conference are interesting. good young players with Max Domi and Tony Duclair.Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Zbynek Michalek both top offensive D-men. good off season pickups with Alex Goligoski, Luke Schenn and Radim Vrbata returns from Vancouver to where he had his best seasons. IF the goaltending holds up they could surprise

Flyers kind of like the Predlies. their "to win" the Eastern Conference is 15-1 which is somewhat low BUT their goaltending should be solid with Michal Neuvirth and Steve Mason. IF they got up to around 25-1 be worth a shot

I've made a killing off betting Oilers to miss playoffs, and under on season total points since their run of 1st overall picks lol! It's great because you can usually get great value thanks to all the hype. Just not sure if I should go back to the well one more time or not....

"Wile E Coyote" still @ 40-1 Monday October 3rd. think I will wait for the start of regular season. they open @ home vs the Flyers October 15th THEN go on a 6 game east coast road trip which probably will NOT be easy

What was the value over the last few years? And or the hype?

You serious?? Every year since about 2010 when they drafted Hall #1 has been the year that it's finally going to "come together." Because they already had a good core of young guys in Eberle, Gagner, and Paajarvi...then add #1 pick Taylor Hall, then add #1 pick Nugent-Hopkins, then add #1 pick Yakupov...each and every year man it's been "this is the year". And then obviously last year even more with McDavid. That's the hype.
In terms of value, my two biggest bets I recall were last year I bet Oilers under 87.5 season total points at +105 for $1000 (they finished with 70), and in 2012 the year after their 3rd #1 pick in a row Yakupov, I bet Oilers to miss playoffs at -140 for $500. Off the top of my head they've had odds better than -200 to miss the playoffs for the past 6-7 years and to me that's great value because they've never been close over that duration.
Organizationally, it pretty much says it all when your GM (or former anyway) McTavish says after drafting McDavid that "offence wins hockey games and we're going to be loaded with it." How'd that work out? I do think they'll be better this year, and actually really like the pick up of Larsson. It's something they should've done a long time ago! But I also think the West is so stacked that it's hard to jump over that many teams in the standings to make the top 8.

Did the Leafs improve 10 points over last year? They sit at 79.5 points
Did Vancouver improve or get worse?
I think the Canucks improved (hard NOT to). took a small "to win" on them @ 50-1 Western Conference. STILL considering "Wile E Coyote" @ 40-1. theySHOULD be better IF the goaltending holds up
