"I may be wrong, but that hit looked like it was right on the
collarbone/upper chest area. How was it an interference penalty? He hit
him right after he passed the puck, I believe the coaches call that
finishing your check. The guy should have realized he had players draped
over him and he was crossing the blue line and not to admire his own
pass after he made it. If anything, this could have been a charging
penalty as it looks like Letang sort of left his feet when hitting the
guy. But man, Johannson was bent over and watching his own pass... kind
of hard to place all of the blame on the hitter.
I don't like the fact that multiple Capital's players have said "suspend
him for 3 games please!". It sort of makes you wonder if some acting up
the actual hit is being done to get a player of significant value
suspended from the opposing team."

I didn't see anything wrong with it. As an objective viewer here (really don't care who wins this series), it didn't look like Letang did not hit him with malice. 15 years ago, this wouldn't even be considered a bad hit.
Keep your head up to be prepared for it. The hearing is a joke but I won't be surprised if they decided to suspend him for a game, which would be non-sense.

Yep, especially smaller players like myself.
I was never a fan of people getting punished because he hit someone skating across the blue line with his head down.

obvious "even up" call by NHL Player Safety after suspending Brooks Orpik for three games BUT Kris Letang is a LOT more valuable to the Penguins than that slug Orpik to the Capitals

Like you said, you learn that at pee-wee level.
That's what you call he was caught in the trolly tracks with his head down & they teach you that in pee-wee level. I guess this game is no longer the game i played.

20 years ago that was a clean, hard hit. Reminded me of Stevens... but now days, and for quite a while now, there has been a lot of emphasis on cracking down on hits to the head. I have always said, that it is sometimes very hard for a player to hit another player, at high speeds, and be that specific where his shoulder actually makes contact. I know it was for me, and Ive laid many hard hits. Chest, shoulder, head... all in the same general area that a player placing the big open ice hit is directing his shoulder towards. So sometimes I feel that a player is wrongfully accused of a 'head shot'.
Considering the way the game is called now, and by the current rules, Letangs hit was not a clean hit. The fact that his shoulder made contact to his head first, is irrelevant to me, for reasons previously stated. But he still hit his head directly, while he was in a venerable position, which you cannot do in todays game. Like I said, I particularily dont feel a player should be penalized for where he hits a player in a situation like that, its too difficult to determine intent. My issue with the hit is that Letang crouched down, and then threw his shoulder and body upward, leaping a foot and a half in the air. In my opinion it wasnt a clean hit, and i would have given him 2 games.
