I go to a couple of games a month and have said right from the beginning of the year that they probably were not good enough to make the playoffs this year. Their defense is a huge liability with all the turnovers game in and game out. They are still the youngest team in the league and there is still hope for Leaf Nation but the longer this losing streak goes obviously the more pressure will be felt. It looks like even if they make it in they would have to play either Boston or Pittsburg which would be tough.
Must win tonight against NJ with St.Louis on the horizon which just happens to be a game I will be at.
Thoughts guys....
You learn more from losing than winning. You learn how to keep going.

I think Carlyle has lost respect from his players, you can't beat down you're guys all year and expect them to respect you. Randy is suppose to be a defensive coach and the Leafs are anything but a good defensive team. You also have to admit that Reimer and him don't get along and as long as Reimer plays the Leafs will continue to lose, with 10 games left they have to win at least 6 or 7 to make the playoffs and that doesn't sound likely. The worse part is I have a 500 bet that the Leafs are going to make the playoffs I made it at the Olympic break with a Detroit fan (friend) and im not looking forward to paying him especially if its Detroit that makes the wildcard spot.

Well said Clark, this team is all over the place, no structure, no discipline, and evidently no game plan. Coach has lost the room. I cant remember the last time the leafs won in NJ on a Sunday night...

To add to the above I think it was a horrible mistake for Carlyle to come out with the "OK" comment after Reimer played a very solid game in a 3-2 road loss to the Wings. Since those comments that night The team has looked uninspired and Reimer has completely checked out with his agent publicly stating that he will be somewhere else next season. It was already a tough situation for Reimer so not sure what exactly Carlyle was trying to accomplish by tossing his goalie under the bus. Also Reimer is a very respected guy on the team from what i hear, perhaps you know different but if that's the case it will obviously have a rippling effect.
Whatever it is they need to get it fixed in a big time hurry or it will be too late.

What is up with canadian teams, the leafs are up and down, flames and oilers seem to have no clue and the nucks have taken a significant step back. As I hockey fan I would like to see the canadian teams more competitive because its good for the game. I hope these organizations turn it around very soon

Bullcookies!!!.......Carlyle is perfect for a young team and the players love their coach......they will make the playoffs and if not, they will be better next year....relax dude, I know its your opinion but realize that Carlyle is way harder on a more veteran team. Watch how he lets the rushing defensemen go with the puck.....that tellls you everything and in the future, that style will pay off ala LA KINGS with Doughty....players just need to mature a little more.
Beer is gotta be earned from winning or hard work. Andy Dufresne agrees.

Funny how a guy that won the Norris trophy coaches a team with no clue about defence!! Ironic if u ask me
Leafs have to carve out their own style of play in the East.....this is a conscious effort to be different...trust me. How do you know....watch how well the Leafs style of play matches up with the Western teams who are big, fast skaters and play more of a transition game.....perfect for the makeup of the Leafs....the East plays boring hockey so Leafs struggle....give them a year or two and they dominate the East and everyone will be copying them!

Thirst highly doubt people will be copying the leafs, they are 14 9 2 against west hardly perfect for them playing the west!! Bruins are 17 4 4 now I'd say that would be perfect for the makeup of the bruins!!

On the contrary,i know for a fact that the team does not like Carlyle at all

I think we're learning a lot about this team right now on Sunday night. 1-0,2-0, oops here comes the 3rd. 3-0 Devils. But wait... a singleton from the Loafers cuts the deficit to 2.

Not only are they choking miserably, but blew any trade value they had in Reimer by hanging him out to dry and making him look like an idiot. Carlyle should be chopped.

We need Bernier back guys hes the only guy that can save this team in this playoff race. I agree our defense are slacking. I blame Norris for this for not having another DEFENSIVE DMAN in the lineup.. Carlye relationship with the player is another and his system is failing. He is soon to be fired but I still don't feel like the new coach will do any better with the group we have now.. but for now Bernier is our only hope
