That is the saddest thing I've read in a long time.

Why, in this day and age, do we need to bear arms? It makes no sense to me. We are a civilised population and guns are just not required.

I know Im from AUS, but still, I think it is fairly obvious that today's generation do not want guns in society - we can only hope that those with legislative power and obligation can do something so this can't happen again.

This is just completely heartbreaking and if I hear one more person say 'the teachers should have guns' i think i we can safer say that mankind is fucked......

Been in a state of sadness and anger since I heard the news. Can't believe it. Unfortunately this stupid gun culture/industry has been a part of of life since the constitution has been written. And if he couldn't get guns, have a feeling that this demented hellspawn would have gotten a hold of a bomb.

Yeah. I agree in some respects. If a person is hell bent on doing something they will - but why give them the ability to do it?

I know it's 'Constitutional', but tell me, how may ppl aged 18-35 want this? it is an old school entitlement that no one of this generation wants. Get rid of it now!

It is really that simple - just a shame politics gets in the way with saving lives.....

If the muders of 20 innocent children dont bring a change in the 300 year old constitution dinosaur bullshit...nothing will.  Ban all handguns...if you are caught with one, you get an automatic 10 yrs and if its loaded, tack on an additional 8yrs.  Any takers?  No lawyers No trial No nothing...just a cold cell.  The "culture" would change overnight.

we could talk about guns till we are all blue in the face. no one will step up to change anything( like abortion) , it is the difference between getting elected or not.what i cant understand is how such a young man can have so much hate in his heart, took me to into my 40's to despise the world and everything it stands for.i have no children, just a spoiled cat.but watching the tape delay of the parents leaving thier car in the traffic jam to run to the school not knowing if thier kids were going to walk out the door or not was as horrific as the attack itself.these poor souls every year as the holiday season rolls upon us will have the priviledge of remebering the day some sick ----! murdered thier 5 year old.i have been told it is a tradgety when a parent out lives thier child. jesus christ! god help us all!

Was on twitter on the weekend, Flea said civilians should not be able to own guns, only military and law enforcement and I agree with him. They have to take this "sporting" aspect out of guns. Thing is you and I both know that guns are a  industry, and profit over justice always seems more viable for the government. But DB, I like those strict measures. It should be next to impossible for a US citizen to get access to and assault rifle. Let's hope this tradgedy will be the final wake up call.
