RECAP - 4/2/2012 - Forgot to post selections but you can see what my selections were by the tickets that I posted yesterday. The individual plays went 7-3-1 yesterday. The only selection not counted is the TB+1 1/2 PL because that was strictly a parlay play... and of course it was a winner as well.
TWO Parlay winnersALSO... Thanks to the VERY late Stamkos EN goal and both TB and LA handling thier business for me... as well as hitting the totals in each game... The Stamkos goal gave me a Reverse +PL winner on TB... Kings also got me the PL winner as well.
Last Night's...
Walk Of Fame - TB+ML... TB Reverse PL... TB-TT-Over-2.5 goals... WAS/TB Over-5.5 game... LAKings-ML... LAKings-PL... EDM/LAK Under-5 goals.
and... (LAKings 1st period ML was a Push )
The Walk of Shame - LAKings-TT-Over-2.5 goals... failed to get that needed EN goal... WAS/TB 1st period Over failed... EDM/LAK 1st period Over failed...
Note: Keep your eyes on what teams have left to play for. Many inflated lines popping up that are highly unjustified and based solely on the presumption that the team with the inflated Fav line will be the only team trying to win... NOT SO... Watch closely for Starting Goalies also for same reason... Expect some teams to sit key players if the team gets locked into a certain playoff seed without chance to move up or down. Situations could change from end of early games to start of later games so be on your toes people.

Toronto at Buffalo - I like Buffalo with ML(parlay only)...Buffalo-PL... Buffalo-Over-TT... Toronto-Under-TT... 1st period Over 1.5 goals... Buffalo (-1/2) 1st period... Buffalo (-1/2) in RegTime... whatever wager can be made in favor of Buffalo... I like it... and them to blow out the Leafs.
NYIslanders at NewJersey - Under-5.5 - Getting the start for NewJersey in the net will be Johan Hedberg and YES... He has been confirmed as the starter. In his two starts this season vs the Islanders, Hedberg picked up one shutout and allowed just 1 goal against in the other game. He won both.
NJ sits in the 6th seed and is poised to face FLA in round one of the upcoming playoffs. They are four points ahead of the 7th seed, Ottawa who also plays on Tuesday at home vs the Canes. With only three games remaining for each NJ and OTT, NewJersey needs only two more points OR one RegTime loss by the Sens in order to clinch no less than a 6th seed. Chances are they will not catch the Flyers or Pens who sit in the 4th and 5th seed spots. With little to play for themselves, I could envision NJ slacking up in this game just a little by not risking injuries to any key players who will be needed for any potential playoff run. Still... NJ does not want to fall into the 7th seed to face Boston in the first round.
Aside from this (4/3/12) game vs the Islanders, NewJersey has a game at Detroit (4/5/12) before ending the regular season at home (4/7/12) vs those Ottawa Senators. If NewJersey picks up ONLY ONE POINT vs the Isles and Wings, then they would only need ONE point vs Ottawa to lock into the 6th seed spot.
For Ottawa, they play Tuesday (4/3/12) at home vs the Canes, then at home (4/5/12) vs Boston before closing out the regular season at NewJersey (4/7/12). For Ottawa to move into the 6th seed they would have to collect 6 points in thier 3 remaining games while having NewJersey be limited to gaining no more than 1 point in its 3 remaining games.
Any combination of TWO points gained by NJ or lost by OTT clinches no less than the 6th seed for NewJersey.
With upcoming games on the road vs Detroit and home against the Sens I think that NewJersey will make a serious effort to pick up the two points it needs to clinch 6th by winning this one vs the Isles. I don't want to back NJ and really want to root for the Isles since I like them... so what I'll do is just make my pick for this game as being the Under-5.5 goals. In the L-10 meetings these teams have only combined for more than 5 goals in just 3 of those L-10. The Isles have won 2 of 5 vs NJ this season but NJ has won the L-2.
Straight Wager play is Under-5.5 for full game is the way to go here. And I'll sprinkle some on the NewJersey-1 1/2 PL in a parlay as well.(Changed this from Isles+PL)
The Sens are already IN the playoffs and depending on events could finish in the 6th... 7th... or 8th seed spot. The Sens need just 1 more point to guarantee no less than being the 7th seed.

NYRangers at Philadelphia - 1st Period Over-1.5 Goals - To my surprise BOTH teams do still have something to play for here. The Rangers are tied with VAN(107 pts) for the NHL's best record and the Flyers sit just one point behind the Pens who are in the 4th seed spot. It looks very likely that the Flyers will face the Pens in the first round of the playoffs so that battle is for who will get home ice IF it goes to a 7th game. With the Flyers success in Pittsburgh I don't think they really care too much... But what the Flyers should care A LOT about is that they have now lost 7 consecutive games to the Rangers including all 5 played this season. The Flyers have been outscored by a total of 19 to 8 in the five meetings and were shut out once. The Flyers would really like to get this monkey off thier backs BEFORE any potential playoff meeting with the Rangers.
As a Flyers fan it helps that my lean here is to Philly but I think that the BEST play here is to take the 1st Period Over-1.5 Goals in this game so that will be my selection. A win in the game by the Flyers would be a bonus to me. I will add the Flyers in at least one parlay.
Pittsburgh at Boston - Pending Bruins starting goalie information - The Bruins have won thier division and are locked into the 2nd seed in the East. They have nothing to gain or to lose in this game at home vs the Penguins. Still... I have to think that the Bruins want to finish the season on a winning note. I could see Boston giving Turco this start but then again I'm not a Bruins team expert. You'll have to ask BooBunny or Looch for that answer. The Penguins are still fighting off Philadelphai for the 4th seed and have a very slim shot at catching the Rangers for the #1 seed. For that to happen the Pens would have to go 3-0 while seeing the Rags go 0-3 to finish the regular season. That's not gonna happen if you ask me... but the chance is still open to happen. The Pens have won 7 of the L-10 meetings vs Boston including 2 of 3 this season and the L-2 played. As for the total... Under-5.5 has been the "Norm" here and won 4 of the L-5 however the Pens won 5-2 L-meeting at home. I don't want to root for the Pens but question the Bruins gameplan in this meaningless game for them. They could sit key players for rest.If Turco gets the start for Boston then Over-5.5 will be my favorite play here.If Thomas gets the start then the Under-5.5 will be my favorite play here. I will add the Bruins to at least one parlay.
Winnipeg at Florida - Under-1.5 goals in 1st Period - I'm pulling for the improbable which is for FLA to finish 0-3 (all in RegTime) and miss the playoffs. Maybe then we can have the NHL review the way it seeds the teams for the playoffs after seeing a 3rd seed with 3 games remaining in its schedule just flat out miss the playoffs all together. A Jets win here just might help bring on the collapse of the Panthers.
After moving as the Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg this off-season... these "new" Jets won the first meeting this season 4-3 (SO) in Florida... Since then FLA had ran off 3 wins over the Jets (2 in Winnipeg) but the Jets won the L-meeting decisively 7-0 played in Winnipeg on 3/1/12. Florida lacks offensive outburst capability but the teams have combined to go Over-5.5 in 5 of thier L-6 meetings. The one game that went Under-5.5 was the last one played in Florida between these teams. FLA won that game 2-1 in RegTime on 2/3/12. With the disappointment of missing the playoffs still fresh in the minds of Jets players they can thrive off of being the spoiler in Florida. Pulling hard for the Jets to win in this game... and a hit on the 1st Period Under-1.5 goals as well.

Carolina at Ottawa - Over-5.5 for the full game - With the Caps fantastic loss in RegTime last night at Tampa Bay that leaves Ottawa needing just a single point in thier L-3 games to lock up the 7th seed in the East. They have a slim shot of getting the 6th seed but will have to overtake NewJersey to do so and NJ has a four point advantage going into Tuesdays games. NJ will also be in action Tuesday. Odds are that the Sens WILL finish as the 7th seed which will pit them against thier division rival, The Bruins in the first round of the playoffs. As for Carolina they looked like an eliminated team in its last game, losing at home to NJ by a 0-5 score and playing with very little passion. After this game in OTT the Canes returns home one last time this season when they face the Habs at home on 4/5/12 and finish at FLA on 4/7/12. Carolina is just 1-4 in its L-5 games with the only win being at Toronto (3-0) on 3/27/12... since then the Canes lost two games at home to Winnipeg and the NewJersey game.
Ottawa is on a 4-0 win streak having wins over the Pens (8-4) at home... and the Jets (6-4)... Flyers (4-3 SO)... and Islanders (5-1) which were all on the road. For the Canes tomorrow Cam Ward has already been confirmed as the starter in the Canes crease.
I will most likely make at least one parlay with Ottawa to win but the straight wager for this game is theOver-5.5 goalsfor the full game.
Minnesota at Nashville - Over-5 Goals - The Predators still have something to fight for as they are currently the 5th seed in the West and are just ONE point behind Detroit for the 4th seed... After this game at home vs the Wild, Nashville is home vs Dallas and end thier regular season on the road at Colorado... As for the Wings, they are OFF on Tuesday but plays Wednesday at STL before returning home to finish its regular season with two home games vs NJ (4/5/12) and then CHI (4/7/12) ... The Wild are a low scoring defensive team however they have won thier L-3 games played with a combined score of 12-9 having won one in OT and 2 in SO's... The Nashville (fav) line for this game is crazy (-240) considering how the teams have been playing and the recent history in this matchup. Nashville has won 5 of the L-6 meetings however the L-3 (all this season) were decided by just one goal and the last meeting in Nashville was a 2-1 (SO) win by the Preds... Nashville is just 3-3 in its L-6 home games and 1-2 in its L-3 at home... Minnesota is 2-2 in its L-4 road games and each of its 3 wins (2 home - 1 road) on this 3 game win streak have gone past RegTime ... With the new found scoring by the Wild and recent slump in the play of Predator goalie Rinne as well... I have got to take the total here which looks to be Over-5 goals for full game. Either way, I think these two teams can at least hit the total at 5 goals.
Carolina at Ottawa - Over-5.5 for the full game - With the Caps fantastic loss in RegTime last night at Tampa Bay that leaves Ottawa needing just a single point in thier L-3 games to lock up the 7th seed in the East. Either way, I think these two teams can at least hit the total at 5 goals.
Anahiem at Vancouver - Under-5 for full game - This line of VAN (-210) is just nutZ in my opinion. I know that the Nucks are hot and bidding for the 1 seed and maybe even the Presidents Trophy HOWEVER in the L-10 meetings the road team is 6-4 (each has won 2 at home in the L-10)... The Ducks have won at Vancouver with lines of ANA+200... ANA+173... and ANA+172 just in the L-10 overall meetings. There will be plenty enough people jumping on the Canucks but I will not be one of them... VAN is on a 6-0 win streak and has only allowed 7 goals in those 6 wins. As for Anahiem they are just 1-3 in thier L-4 games played. I'll root for the Ducks and for the Under-5 for the full game.
SanJose at Dallas - Under-5 goals for full game - I wish that ties actually were in effect for this game and each team could get no more than 1 point. They are both chasing the LAKings but hopefully neither will catch them... If they don't then they will be fighting for the 8th and last seed available in the Western Conference. This is the back end of a H2H, H&H and SJ won the first half by a score of 3-0 in SanJose. The Sharks have won 6 of thier L-10 and 4 of thier L-6 games and currently are the 8th seed in the West... Dallas is currently the 9th seed and just a single point behind SanJose. This is a playoff game... no doubt about it... because whoever does not win this one will most likely be eliminated eventually from the playoffs barring a miracle. No need to try and figure who will win... because we already know it will be a tight game so Under-5 is the most prudent play here.
Columbus at Phoenix - Another inflated line here since PHX is fighting for a playoff spot. With the juicy line being given to the BJ's I have to play something on thier side... so Columbus is my pick here especially since I'm rooting against a PHX point of any kind in this game. A win in RegTime by CLM would really help the Kings. Columbus won recently at Phoenix by a 5-2 score on 3/3/12 so it's not impossible.
