Record: 20-25

Outstanding Bets:

Wizards -1.5 Games +111 to win series over Hawks

Bucks -1 over Raptors.

Yes the world will be on the Clips this game but this is warranted...because it just as much a do or die game as game 2 for a long-suffering playoff team.

Go down 2-1 and you are going 7. And anything can happen then. And Gobert will be back then.

Gobert will not be back for this game for my money.

Look at him shooting gingerly from the top of the FT line in this article.

http://purpleandblues.com/2017/04/19/utah-jazz-rudy-goberts-absence-teammates-fail-step-game-2/

But he will be back. At some point.

And if you go down in game 3 and then have Gobert coming back Sunday? How do you go into that game with overwhelming confidence?

Gobert's absence was front and center for the Clippers. As illustrated by BB, 60 points in the paint and 8 free throws.

CP3, three fouls in the FIRST half, two questionable.

The odds of those two things happening again? Little to no chance.

And they still won by 8.

Which means an 8 pt win is likely a 12/14/15 point win with normal FT totals and fewer questionable fouls.

And the refs always give back. They know what they do wrong and make up for it, many times in the same game. Many times on the very next play.

So you have:

1) No Gobert (for my money)

2) A small giveback from the refs to the Clippers (even after a win, it was still a poorly officiated game against the Clips). Look at the Wizards tonight. The Hawks said the Wiz played like MMA fighters and after 12 fouls in the first game they were whistled for 29 tonight. The refs make up for wrongs, in small ways. And small matters here.

3) Great line, pure line. Just win the game. What can you say?

4) It's a must-win IMO. Take control of the series right now and try to go up 3-1 in game 4 while Utah struggles with injury.

5) The Jazz are only at 1-1 because they rallied round the Gobert injury, and still needed a JJ miracle to take it. This series can most definitely be 2-0 and if it could be 2-0, 2-1 is more than reasonable. And we can bet on 2-1 with NO SPREAD. Wow.

Do you really need a post on this? Not really. This is obvious. But I am posting it. This is a TEN POINT swing in spread (as noted in the Bucks thread, that is the absolute max swing in the playoffs. You get it ALL here).

The pick:

Clippers +102 (5Dimes reduced juice) over Jazz

Wish I could tail, but I decided to bet them to win the series parlayed with some other series for a better payout. All these years the Clippers have been snakebitten (the Sterling Scandal, the awful call at the end of game 5 in OKC, the miracle comeback from the dead by the Rockets in game 6 in LA, Paul's injury last year, and now they have fortune smiling on them with Gobert being out and (if they get past the Jazz) facing a Warrior team with a hobbled Durant. This is like a movie fit for Hollywood, and all they have to do, all these pieces of crap have to do, is seize the opportunity.

BB, I think you have the right parlay. Of course you will sweat at some point but it is solid. And then if you win you can take all that money and get ready for the next round.

As for me? Game by game. Yes the Clops can fold as history has dictated but if you can't be the walking wounded who can you beat. The Jazz fought through injury all year, made it all the way here and then suffer what is basically the worst possible injury to their best defensive player and third leading scorer. This is a Clipper team that got past the first round against the older but much wiser Spurs.

They can take out the Jazz with the same core (different bench which matters but same primary pieces). Especially one lacking one of it's featured players.

You are crazy to trust the Clippers on the road in this game. Some better shot selection by the Jazz and they will roll in game 3. GL

I like clips also.  I expect the refs to call a better game.  Rudy does not scare me.  Healthy yes  not now.  His minutes will be limited.  The game plan should be simple.  Push tempo and attack him.  Willis Reed he is not.  If the refs allow the clips to push tempo they have  a better chance of winning.  One way to beat a solid defensive team is to not allow them to set their defense up.  So i do believe the clips win.

It's actually kinda funny. I made a long shot play on them to make it to the finals just to have some nice future payout action and I thought I was the only one that saw it possibly unfolding like this. Get past the Jazz and who knows what happens if Durant is out. Warriors would still be favorites but the lack of size is something the clippers might be able to exploit if it comes to that

I'm sorry but have you watched the Clippers over the years? Yes this is the exact same team that chokes every single year and make no mistake it will re-enact this year. Blake Griffin maybe most overrated player EVER to play the game, in the sense that people think CP3 has championship talent around him. Golden State would mop them up in 5 at worst....Utah will beat them in 7. San Antonio and Houston would run over them as well......I think the Clippers are absolute garbage and it's been proven time and time again.

That's why it's called Gambling....guess we should just crown the champion now since you know everything! -230 odds on betting the warriors to win it all? Where is the value (and fun) in that?

I didn't think he would be the best fit really. When it's not broke, don't fix it. I would love to see Steph go to one of the lower tier teams in the league and see what he could do for them

Maybe Steph should go to Orlando. He might be able to turn them into a winning team. If he shoots the ball enough he can single handedly win games for them. He never gets tired and nobody can guard him so he turn any team into a championship team by himself.

Unreal....I've never read something so idiotic

- the team is NOT better without Durant
- Durant does mean SOMETHING....he's arguably the second best player in the world.
-it's year one and you sound like you just started watching basketball last season. Obviously the chemistry appears better with Durant out right now but from an analytical perspective and numbers and statistics wise the team is clearly better with him on the floor. Flashy showtime passes and sports center highlights with Steph or Klay draining threes running the opposite direction before the ball even goes in doesn't mean they aren't better without Durant dude.

-finally what the warriors did last season although great was not sustainable longterm. There is a reason why the bench last season wasn't as effective. Bench players get figured out and the warriors knew that. I guess you forgot the Warriors were down 3-1 twice last post season and they didn't even win the championship.

Trust me, if the Warriors have to play the Clippers without Durant, it will be a very close series and the Clippers would have a great chance to advance. BTW, my post was not talking about Durant's actual value (though it is great) but how Duran't injury might motivate the Clippers and give them hope that they can beat a team that has owned them the last two years. Because right now (as I see it), they are playing half-heartedly, knowing what awaits them should they advance.

In fact, Scal, I am going to make this reason 6 on your list of reasons for backing the Clippers.

Utah's tough @ home, including their current streak of 9 wins in a row and one of those was against the Clippers. Line seems about right, and I think the public has it right, too.....

Well BB, Risk, and Randy,

I would double my bet if it were the same line after the above post.

Bb, add to your #6 and make #7 "GimmeeMoneyNow" endorses the Jazz.
