trying this again as i was in the penalty box a day after starting it because of an ip address mistake. here's today's play/leans: 10:35pm -- dallas mavericks OVER 186 -106 leans:
- bulls -4 +100
as always, each play is two-units. would have an unblemished start but the lightning refuse to play body-on-body playoff hockey and can't say james neal's 2nd-overtime goal helped much, either.

recap for 4/21/11:
swept the day throughout each sport but had to sweat out the mavericks
over due to a defensive-minded second half (what else would i expect?)
and had to rely on the mariners' bullpen to maintain a 1-0 lead but no
complaints about the final outcomes.
actual plays went 3-0 for +6
leans went 4-2 for what would have been +4.02
would
have swept the leans throughout each sport if the royals didn't walk
off on the indians and if i went with my initial lean on diamondbacks
team total instead of money line. hard to fathom the white sox were
involved as one of my leans and it wasn't them who let a lead go.
bullpens and closers really aren't getting the job done to start the
season but some go your way, some don't. (note: diamondbacks ml was
posted in my penalty box thread this morning but due to it being over by
the time i posted my mlb thread, i left it out of the lean list but
have credited the loss to the lean record).
the
only loss so far is still james neal's goal from an impossible angle,
thanks roloson. see you boys tomorrow and hope everyone had a profitable
night!

recap for 4/22/11: lakers and royals over won fairly easily but got burned by the juice on the ducks and had no chance with the rapids from the get-go as they got a red card in the 3rd minute and had to play a man down the rest of the way.
actual plays went 2-2 for-0.98
leans went 3-2 for what would have been +2.7
lost the magic lean due to crawford taking over for the hawks, including a bank-in 3 as the shot clock expired with about 10 seconds left in the game and lost the marlins over due to sanchez's gem (0 runs in 6 innings after 5 runs through 3) but i'll take that as it makes the over with vazquez and hammel tomorrow look golden even though i normally wait until game 3 of a marlins series to play the over. may have to detour from that as the game 3 projected starters are jimenez/johnson.
i normally get burned with regulation bets in hockey so had to lay the juice with the ducks there and ended up paying for it. the other 2 losses include james neal's ridiculous-angle goal and the rapids loss after the red card. hope everyone had a better night than i did, see you this weekend!

have had extremely good success this season playing on and against san antonio and have a feeling this game will mimic the outcome that happened in new orleans in game 3. this is a game you can confidently bet on experience to overcome inexperience. good luck this weekend and enjoys the games gentlemen!

recap for 4/23/11: good call sharmuta! won fairly easily with the lightning as they finally decided to play some hockey. won with ac milan late and the spurs ruined a perfect day, never thought i'd see them miss so many open jumpers and choke away key opportunities in transition to really take control of the game. the athletics were just in a good spot there and pennington broke it open in the top of the 4th with a 3-run shot and that was all cahill needed.
actual plays went 3-1 for+4.6
leans went 5-5 for what would have been -1.2
lost the bruins regulation lean as i figured they'd really be fuming with confidence after their stint in montreal and lost with the spurs ml because i thought experience would ultimately prevail but they could never get the most important buckets, props to the grizzlies. lost the giants lean as lincecum struggled with control today and lost with the marlins over as vazquez didn't struggle as much as i thought he would and hammel was hitting corners. also lost with the white sox as penny completely shut them down, no explanation for that haha.

don't think the lakers slip up here and continue their dominance over the hornets. good
luck to everyone closing out the easter weekend on a positive note!

recap for 4/24/11:
the gambling gods made sure i'd pay for deviating from my plan of 1
play-a-day and even teased me. zobrist hit a 2 run shot in the top of
the 1st and rays had 1 on and 1 out after that and not one thing
happened the rest of the way. can't say i wasn't deserving. won with the
blackhawks late in overtime and it's pretty insane how mindfucked the
canucks must be by them now. they can't even confidently start a
goaltender in game 7 and i'm sure no one is speaking of the elephant in
the room (the collapse) on the flight home, even though everyone is
thinking it. won with the athletics which should have been the only
baseball play and lost with the lakers. props to the hornets, the last
thing they're going to do is lay down for the lakers.
actual plays went 2-2 for-0.16
leans went 2-7 for what would have been -10.46
tough
day lean wise but guess that's why they weren't actual plays. lost the
magic lean late, lost rangers rl due to a bullpen debacle and lost
diamondbacks ml/astros ml as that was just fool's good there. lost with
jays team total as somehow shields put together a productive road start
and lost with the ducks and sabres late.

recap for 4/25/11: won with the sharks in overtime, won with manchester city on a late goal and lost in the 13th inning with the braves and the spurs didn't show up in the second half.
actual plays went 2-2 for-0.6
leans went 3-3 for what would have been +0.8
all over the place with leans today as i lost with the penguins (lightning decided to play some hockey), norwich city (sloppy game defensively) and phillies (kennedy threw a gem, really turning the corner this season). won with the mavericks which should have been the nba play and won with the cubs over and white sox 1st 5 innings.
seems like every play was decided late tonight and that's definitely not a recipe for success. can never complain with splitting a day and living to gamble another one. see you tomorrow!

expecting the lakers to hang 100+ tonight and get back to their formula. hornets should try to keep pace and one nice quarter here will spell for an over, let's hope it easier than expected. good luck and enjoy
the action!

recap for 4/26/11: swept the day but barely as had to sweat out an overtime win on a very juicy play with the canucks but really felt the blackhawks had exerted too much energy in the previous 3 games to take 4 straight. what a show from both goaltenders but pulled that one out. indians over hit fairly easily with all the home runs and the lakers total played out as i thought it would. hit both soccer plays today as well with stoke city and manchester united.
actual plays went 5-0 for+10.46
leans went 2-4 for what would have been -4.84
leans struggled today as they were leans for a reason. lost with the red sox as buchholz was still shaky, lost with the marlins over but both teams had chances to make that a winner, lost with the bruins as it was definitely a reach to think the canadiens would lose all 3 games in the series at home and lost with the bulls under as both teams played well offensively.

looking for the nuggets to play desperation ball here and try to outscore the thunder. durant and westbrick's shooting percentages go up greatly at home and should get some calls down the stretch in a close game that will send both teams to the line. good luck and enjoy
the action!

recap for 4/27/11: as gratifying as yesterday was, today was equally as frustrating. won with the lightning but that's about where the positives stop. was on the completely wrong side of the bolton game, lost with the thunder over and mcdonald shut down the giants.
actual plays went 1-3 for -3.96
leans went 2-4 for what would have been -4.56
leans have been struggling a bit lately. lost today with the lightning over, bolton under, rangers rl and heat.

recap for 4/28/11: not necessarily the bounce back day i was looking for as i lost with the magic and was on the entirely wrong side of the villarreal game (2 soccer games in a row i've had terrible reads on) won with the canucks and yankees.
actual plays went 2-2 for -0.54
leans went 6-0 for what would have been +12.1
no losses to discuss lean wise, pushed with benfica and won with the rest.
read the mlb card fairly well and just went with the wrong play in the nba. been a little cold there and soccer as well. we'll turn it around heading into the weekend though!

this will probably be a public play but i'm okay with that. they've burned me a few times this series but really think that facing elimination, they won't lose all 3 games in memphis. good luck to everyone!

recap for 4/29/11:
been all over the place the last few days and today was no different.
won easily with the dynamo over but lost with the wings over, rangers
and spurs. wings over had no chance and although cahill historically
owned texas, really felt that was a good spot for the rangers. the
grizzlies were the better team all series and that wasn't an upset at
all. props to them.
actual plays went 1-3 for -3.84
leans went 2-8 for what would have been -13.5
as
opposed to yesterday, there are plenty of losses in the lean department
to discuss. entirely read the nhl card wrong as i lost with the wings
ml, capitals 1p under and capitals regulation (along with my actual play
on the wings over). lost with the rays, twins, astros and yankees over
in mlb and lost with the spurs ml and as stated earlier, memphis was the
more athletic and more hungry team from the get-go. that was well
deserved for that group.
