Anybody notice A LOT of non-calls with this guy especially?  We've all seen some obsurd stuff from ref's before.  But none as obvious and ridiculous as Salvatore's level.  I feel if we look deep enough into his record and resume we will find quite a few discrepancies.  I'm consider myself a dedicated NBA fan, and from personally observing this guy in action, I feel a loss of integrity inside the league.  Does anybody else feel this way towards the NBA and it's refs?  Also does anybody out there make plays based on refs and assignments?

Income tax fraud

In 2000, he was sentenced to a year of probation, 150 hours of community service and a fine of $500 for his role in airline ticket fraud. He pleaded guilty in a New Haven federal court on July 26, 2000 to filing a false tax return with the Internal Revenue Service for the tax year 1993.[6]

Salvatore was criticized by ESPN sports journalist Bill Simmons following his role in Game 5 of the 2006 NBA Finals.[2] Towards the end of the game in overtime, Miami's Dwyane Wade drove to the basket and was fouled by the Mavericks.[2] ABC Sports, the television network covering the NBA Finals, could not display a conclusive replay supporting the call by Salvatore.[2]

Good Info, have you ever had in success at figuring out this guy's bias or tendencies towards making certain calls?

No. Just try to stay away from any game that he's officiating!

Hey Guys,

Salvatore is over or no play.  Look at the box score, he likes to keep the game close.  9 Free throw attempts for Lakers, 26 For Raptors..........That is why Raps won the game.

Spooner+ Salvatore = OVER

Both refs end 2/3's of thier games as OVERS. If yo look at the remianing refs; it seems everyone else is well below 60% in any direction, most right at a game above/below 50%....

Love the tip...

Thanks for the info guys.  After reading more articles about him and watching a few youtube videos, I'll stay away from his games for the most part unless it's a big underdog.  If he tendencies are correct by trying to keep the game close, taking a team +10 or more in his games should be considered.  I agree with this guy being an over or a no play completely.

I strictly remember someone here well before the Denv Utah game last week noted this.........

They said msomething along the lines of "Bennet Salvatore on national TV equals fouls, fouls and more fouls, smash over"...

Funnily enough, Denv attempted 48 free throws......I couldnt believe it, total flew over........

That would be me. The Over steamed almost 4 points that morning because of the sole fact Benito was the head ref. I made a small fortune on that game. I follow the top o/u refs religiously.

Nice input , Mikado and Smoke_O ,

however I saw on the refs page here in Covers , that Salvatore last season was 41 Over - 36 Under in 77 games he officiated.

Also, the ATS records in his games seem fair, there is no a big trend on certain attitudes.

For sure, someone in one year can make some relations and change his attitude on the games.

Anyway, there are some nice stats on refs ATS for Home teams..,check it out on the Covers section for the referees in NBA.

P.S. For what all these info are worthing,I suppose at the end of the season these stats will break even, maybe slightly 2%-3% above the 50% mark.

You have to watch these refs live in game to know their bias and tendencies.  You just aren't going to find it by looking it up off google or here off covers.  My main point was the Bennett is obviously being out of line with his calls.  It seems to me he like to keep things close between teams.  In the 2nd half is where he seems to pull most his tricks.  You guys ever see a call SO BAD and was never reversed, then you say to yourself  "people are got to be talking about this once they see it on NBA TV or Sportscenter". Guess What?  It never happens.  These networks go a distance to protect the image of the game, usually by means of  editing important footage of the game out that could possibly put someone under the spotlight for their job.  If we were all given access to these unedited highlights, our days would be A LOT easier.

Another trick that I see alot of under refs do is they call a ton of off the ball fouls or loose ball fouls but HARDLY any shooting fouls. I cant remember the ref that did this the most last year but its very apparent. By doing this they get star player/starters in foul trouble, disrupt the pace of the game, and when guys are driving to the cup and get fouled hard with no calls they begin to press. You really have to watch theses games to see the tendacies of the bigger name refs.
