Is the falcon defense as bad as everyone says it is? I went digging and found something noteworthy
Since week 9
Tampa- allowed 14 points going into 4th quarter
philly- allowed 10 points going into 4th
cardinals- 13 points going into 4th
rams- scoreless 3 quarters, scored 14 in 4th
49rs- 13 points going into 4th
panthers- 13 points going into 4th
saints- 13 points going into 4th
fast forward Playoffs
seattle- 13 points going into 4th
packers- 15 points going into 4th, first half shut out
one can argue the schedule but they can only play the team in front of them, the defensive stats for atlanta are misleading in that pattern shown above, they are up so big at that point in the game.

They have been playing with the lead a lot and that turns the opposing offense a bit one dimensional which in turn helps a defensive front, They're nothing special but then again neither is the Pats D, They are both efficient, You won't see many elite Seahawks, Ravens of old, Steelers of old level defenses in the game anymore, Goodeel wants offense.

They did amazing work shutting down two of the best quarterbacks in Brees and Rodgers. I am a Patriots fan who's first instinct is to take the Falcons. I'm not saying it will be a Falcons victory, but 3 points is awesome with Ryan who can drive the field late in the game fearlessly.
The Patriots got away with some no-calls vs Pitt. It won't be the same during the SB.

You are NOT a Patriots fan if your 1st instinct is to bet Atlanta. What kind of Bullshit is that? Oh sorry, you must be on another plane of knowledge. Ya that's it. Your down with the 131 idiots. Good company! You're a poser who doesn't watch football. Your pathetic and desperate. Don't ever mention the Patriot name again or you will be 131D.

Yep, nothing special. Only a 10 point differential, nothing to see here.

Relax guy! The adults are here to discuss angles on betting the Super Bowl. You're better off posting to Teen Magazine where someone cares about the semantics of being a fan.

DEAD LAST.NFL Team Opponent Red Zone Scoring Percentage (TD only) = 72.13%They might as well roll out the red carpet for the Patriots inside the 20.
I would t say all that, the patriots are definitely going to score. That being said I think the patriots are going to have an equal battle in stopping Atlanta. The patriots haven't really faced anything tough this year and definitely nothing like what Atlanta will bring. They shut the steelers down but that became really easy when bell left the game.

you don't realize it, but you may be Joe Public. Condolences for your loss.
And Joe Public is 8-2 ATS this year in the playoffs. Just because someone backs an underdog doesn't make them a sharp and vice versa.
New England is favored despite "it's defense isn't that great..." "they haven't faced anyone with a good offense..." "team x did this so Atl will do that... " The fact of the matter is the league sucks as a whole and there have been 4 real good teams and then everyone else. The one constant has been New England and their defense I think has come together, everyone knows what they're job is and the coaches know how to employ those players. Once they traded away Jamie Collins for pennies on the dollar it woke everyone up that they need to do their job or they'll get shipped to NFL hell in Cleveland because Bill just doesn't give a darn. They took the rest of the season to figure out their pieces, and albeit they faced shitty teams the rest of the way, they figured it out. But again, the league as a whole sucks.
Go read CMJohnson1's thread and he hit everything spot on. The nunbers don't mean person because they can all be justified, but the only one that can't be is points. You only win games by scoring more points than you allow. Most points scored vs least amount allowed has favored the defense more times than not and New England has an offenae capable of matching Atlanta, but they won't. They're going to keep the ball outta Matt Ryan's hands by running the ball hard with Blount who's fresh having limited carries in the last 5 weeks. They're going to sustain drives with their short passing game, won't take big shots unless they're there against the defense because they want to dominate TOP.
In Super Bowl 42, New England with the highest scoring offense in history at the time, limited to 29:33 vs 30:37 in TOP vs a top ranked defense and scores 14 points. In Super Bowl 46, New England with the 10th highest scoring offense in history at the time, limited to 22:55 vs 37:05 in TOP vs a top ranked defense and scored 14 points. Super Bowl 48, Denver with the highest scoring offense in history, limited to 28:07 vs 31:53 in TOP vs a top ranked defense and scored 8 points. TOP could have been more in NYG favor if they had a have decent offense.
I may be Joe Public as well but give me a team with a legit offense, a half decent defense, the GOAT quarterback and GOAT coach and I'll have no issues laying 3 points in the biggest game of the year, even if they don't cover.

slurp, slurp, NE some more why don't you. A good offense always beats a good defense. I'll take the better offense with points thanks.
