slow day here so i figure i'll make this argument and incur the wrath of the nfl forum.
first, this assumes that romo is healthy. if he isn't and dallas is holding back info, then obviously that would change things.
second, this also assumes the fact that romo is a better quarterback than prescott. that's not up for debate so i won't debate it.
third, i'll note to the primary counterargument. dallas is 8-1, soon to be 9-1 most likely, and you can't pull a QB for a team that is 9-1.
that does make sense. but it makes more sense if you are trying to win games in weeks 10, 11, and 12. it makes less sense if you are trying to win a super bowl.
as far as i really, no rookie qb has ever won a super bowl. so, in continuing to start prescott, you are asking dallas to do something that's never been done before. the closest rookie i believe was wilson. one, wilson was better than prescott. two, seattle was better than dallas. some people might point to the fact that romo has never won or been to a super bowl. but, he has been to the playoff several times and won in the playoffs. much more than you can say for a rookie qb. and again, it's not debatable that romo is better than prescott, if healthy.
here's the other reason why i think dallas needs to make the change now. if they don't and prescott starts to struggle at the end of the season or gets hurt, you really don't want to put romo in there at that time. romo hasn't played in about a year. in december, it'll be more than a year. he'll need time to get comfortable again.
if you put romo in now and he gets hurt or it turns out he can't play anymore, you have time to put prescott back in or if romo gets hurt later, at least prescott has 9 games under his belt.
the good news about this argument is we may find out which side is right depending on what happens.
also, i'd be surprised if an nfl team doesn't hire me to be a gm after this post. actually pretty surprised it hasn't happened already but we can take that up another time.

yes, he has won two games in the playoffs and played in a total of six. that's two more wins and six more games than prescott. i don't remember that detroit game but they did in fact win and romo went 19/31 with 2 TD's and no turnovers and a much higher QB rating than stafford. similar stats in his other playoff win.

As an Eagles fan I love it. The whole statement by Romo, the controversy, all of it. It just screams bad news for dem boys. Bad spot for an 8-1 team.
While I can be honest and say Dak has looked good, how can anyone say he is better than Romo? Tough spot either way.
Plus dont forget the message it sends to the O line. I mean they are the real reason the team is 8-1 not Dak. So thier leader is ready to come back but the brass sticks with the rookie so it sort of is a shot at them as well.
No matter what they do its a distraction and messes with the synergy of the team. So again I love it!

That pressconference might have screwed up their momemtum. Dak played well with the pressure of Romo possible coming back, now that is gone and the rookie wall is waiting for him. Cowboys could go on a losing streak and then they have to go back to Romo who will probably be rusty to start.

As a Cowboys fan....I love that Philly will lose in Seattle this weekend. Having 2 great QB's on Cowboys is hardly a problem. Having Wentz on yours...BIG problem.

Dallas is 3rd in the NFL in total offense with Prescott at the controls. The kid has played fundamental sound football. He's not turning the ball over, running around in the pocket, throwing the ball up for grabs and is showing a tremendous amount of poise and leadership.
And you want to bring in another quarterback??????????

Name 1 instance in NFL history where a QB controversy has been healthy for a team. I remember when Aikman struggled as a rookie and idiots were saying to play steve Walsh. Wonder what would have happened if they listened. Romo is not a backup so I would trade him asap

I don't think Dallas is panicking sticking with Dak, but I do think this team would be 8-0 with Romo this year, had he been healthy. This offense line is incredible, as is Zeke, he is not only one hell of a running back, but he can catch and turn the burners on coming out of the back field. With that said, they're sticking with Dak, don't want to mess up the mojo, but I do think Romo ends up the QB at the end of the season, and hopefully in the SB, which is where they are heading, in my opine. I've been riding them all year. I live in Dallas, but have never had a problem fading this team in the past, with that said I'm not so sure about this weekend. This is the first good D they have faced, and it should be interesting, still pondering this one.
