Denver has been good to me and conversely, I haven't had much luck fading Carolina. Whether you like him or not, Cam is Incredible and the future of this league with the likes of Russell, Luck, Winston, etc...the future QB position is in good hands when Manning, Brady and company retire. I am glutton for punishment and terrified fading Cam, but I must go with Denver here. A lot of talk about Manning being done and the Denver offense being, well let's call it how it is, sh1tty. Most casual bettors, including my 7 year old nephew, are claiming that Carolina is the better team and will win. Why is that? The casual fan see's they are the #1 scoring offense and that they manhandled their last two playoff opponents. Meanwhile Peyton can't throw a spiral beyond 10 yards and Denver got here by barely beating a banged up Pitt team and NE. As Nasty (as in good) their defense is, their offense is nasty (as in, well, sh1tty) and that is what the casual fan hones in on. They hone in on, oh Denver offense can't keep up with the #1 scoring offense. Just like denvers offense won't keep up with Brady,Gronk and that high powered Pats offense. This overlooks, what may go down as one of the best defenses in a long time. Denver doesn't win games pretty. They don't have a good or efficient offense. We'll let's face it, they have a sh1tty offense. But they now find themselves in the Super Bowl. Guess what? This is how Denver plays! They are the type of team that scores 20 and wins by double digits. They grind you down with that defense and win ugly. And one thing I can't get out of my head is how bad the Carolina schedule has Beene specifically the defenses they played. As long as Peyton takes care of the ball, I see Denver covering if not winning outright. I also like the fact that 6 of the last 8 dogs have covered in the last 8 Super Bowls. I counted the Seahawks as a dog last year but that game ended at a PK...and we all know Seatle should have won that game And I like that Carolina does not play nearly as well away from home. Let me stop rambling.....
.....actually, one more thing....
I read a great article on yahoo that has a comparison that hits the nail on the head about this match up. I'm sure the old timers know what I'm referring to.....Giants vs Bills (1991)....this comparison is not far fetched.
Denver +5.5 LARGE
Denver/Carolina Under 44.5
Going to be a busy weekend for me....good luck all and see you next season

Wes's- I share exact thoughts but I'm speaking of the general public....and Pamer was truly hurt from that dislocated finger....it was evident in GB game as well but I didn't want to bring that up to discredit Carolina. Carolina is a great team.

Nice write up CB. I too have a really hard time ignoring the SOS component being that my fave NCAA school is from a small conference and I see every year first hand how SOS makes a huge difference.
It's crazy, every day another capper on my personal list of "super" cappers from this site knocks my already strong lean up another peg. I won't lie when I say the consensus amongst you solid guys scares me a little...but I don't think I can waver...it's turning into a bigger and bigger bet for me.....Now if CrazyFrenchman and AMD posts Broncs also? oh dear...
GL to us. Obviously, we could lose....but I like our chances of winning...should be a good game for the whole 60 minutes either way.

Giants Bills 91, only worked because Belichick brilliantly rushed 2 and dropped back extra help. You'd need Wade Phillips to be that brilliant here Carolina would have easily out gained Seattle if they weren't so far ahead .
But how good was Denver at home vs. Pittsburgh without Brown and both RB's? Pitt moved the ball all day on them and Ben couldn't throw or run...this Denver D is just good, no where as good as Baltimore 2000

You had me until you said " I read a great article on yahoo." We all know yahoo has the worst articles in the world. But besides that.....I agree. The only thing I'm worried about is people seem to forget they are not playing in Denver. Broncos D needs to play lights out to win this game because we all know the offense isn't going to do much. If Brady didn't throw that pick to Miller they wouldve lost. Or you could talk about the missed extra point too. Broncos got 82 yards in the 2nd half. If Panthers score over 20 points Denver will be in trouble. Now I'm talking myself out of the Denver pick. I need to shut up. Good luck!!!
All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy

Bills /Giants is no comparison whatsoever.Giants game planned to Buff. weakness which was stopping the run. They were able to do this because they had a qb that could throw the ball downfield the Broncos DON'T.Remember the Giants won because of the missed field goal at the end of the game.

General public also just sees the #1 Bronc defense stat, but doesnt realize they played terrible qbs and had 8 games with the the biggest hfa outside of seattle.....

Thx fellas....kicking myself after telling my friend Von Miller will win mvp but I never played it at +1200....played Denver ML instead figuring that's a way to play Denver field for mvp at +190
And I apologize for those who got hung up on my one SUBJECTIVE line of a long post that I felt this Super Bowl resembled the giants/bills Super Bowl where the high powered buff offense was going up against a stout giant defense with an avg offense. The defense went on to dominate and shut down the high powered offense. Much like that game, the same happened tonight.
