Historically...In divisional matchups, where one of the two teams has won 2 straight vs their opponent, due to "familiarity", I suppose, it is a VERY RARE occasion that the same team could BOTH, win AND cover the points!!!
Vegas "blows-up" the spread a few points more, with the supposed "dominant team", resulting in a "cover" the other direction.
The same team "may" win again, or not, but usually will NOT cover the points.
They might even lose OUTRIGHT, automatically resulting in a "dog-cover" in those games!!!

Hard to both win AND cover 3 straight, versus a "familiar foe"!!!
When the teams were evenly matched, I would agree with you. But take Tampa...they have been bad against everyone the last few years so it isn't a surprise that Carolina has rolled them. I do believe that divisional games are generally closer than other games, and usually will fall under as well.

Before you start "supposing" I suggest you take the time to research this hypothesis of yours. I suspect it is in error.
