It's just a disgusting call BB, but clearly cosmic payback for last week's atrocious pass interference call.
But the NFL is just leaving all the wording in the rulebooks open ended so they can simply call it as they see it, which then allows for granules of plausible deniability.
Remember this play in the Colts game?
This was considered a fair catch without a fumble...But Dez's catch wasn't ? LOL!

He doesn't 'lose control' of anything. There is a thing called gravity and a defender is all over you trying to deflect the pass and then is tied up with your legs and body. You are going to the ground...and hard.
The arm and hand are only so big for an oblong ball. If it were a baseball in a hand I could understand asking that it not jostle free. But a 230+ 6 foot something giant is coming to the ground after jumping to his highest point, using all his concentration to catch the ball (he does so) and in the next second he needs to hit the ground with what, both arms wrapped around the ball like a baby? With a defender on him and they are asking that every single part of an oblong ball to remain off the ground, when the said ball is essentially, in the guy's hand already. Ridiculous. These reffing crews are a joke.

What?...have lawyers on the sidelines to make their case?...lol
If they ever did that a game would take all day or maybe a couple days to complete...lol
It wasn't a catch and I agreed with the reversal by the refs...they made the correct call and it was according to the rule.
