And there's nothing wrong with that. Manning is in my opinion one of the top five quarterbacks of all-time. I mean, how many quarterbacks run their own practices? However, the zip on the ball is gone and will likely never return. That does not mean Manning cannot be successful, because I think he will be. Manning will now beat you in the controlled short to medium passing game similar to the way Chad Pennington was successful with the Jets. Guys like Manning and Pennington are so cerebral when it comes to football that they can beat you without deep passes..Should be an interesting year in Denver..

Peyton needs to stick to the short to intermediate routes..As smart as he is, he can still beat you that way, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time..The arm is not there for the deep ball, no need to force it...

i agree the zip is def gone. i think people saw the final score last week and forgot 7 came on a pick 6 at the end, and 7 from a 1 yard pass where the receiver ran 80 yards. this isnt the same peyton i said that before last week.

If memory serves Chad Pennington had the Jets one game away from the AFC Championship Game, there's no reason Peyton cannot do the same thing..A big element of his game his gone, but as I said he can still be successful because of his other attributes..

you re aboslutely right..as the year goes on he can still shred teams with the short passing game. the big picture problem is they dont have good wide receivers and the window (in years) to win a superbowl with him his short. shit im watching brady slowly deteriorate. he s by no means as good as 5 years ago. still great dont get me wrong but you can see glaring difference s. its called life..the older you get..the worse you get athletically...throw in that injury fo rpeyton and thats not good for a qb as much as we want these stars to go on forever.

^ watch peyton and Denver come back and win this, plenty of game left, people freak out like a career is over from a 10mimute sample size
i dont think you can read well...ill interpet.. OF COURSE DENVER CAN COME BACK AND WIN..its not about that. denver will win plenty of games. its about manning doesnt have the same arm anymore..thats what this thread is about..and if you think he still does..well....

Are you saying the zip is gone because of the neck injury and the pain or are you saying he just suddenly got old?
I don't think he suddenly got old.
personally... i heard throughout camp he had looked good but lost a lot of velocity. so ya i think its no doubt bc of the injury, however doesnt help coming when he is getting old., thats like a perfect storm. i have a hard time believing if indy thought they had 4 good years left in him (of they old peyton/) they would have let him go...they knew

The old Peyton playing against these defenses with these rules would be almost unfair. He would have had 4 touchdown passes in this half alone instead of 3 interceptions, but he can't be that same guy anymore and that's ok. He's perfectly capable of dissecting defenses as well as anyone that's ever played the game and putting together 12-15 play drives for scores because that is and will continue to be the new Peyton Manning..
