#6 Posted: 3/13/2012 6:18:41 PM Flynn is not going to sign until Manning does.
If the Dolphins don't get Manning, they will severely overpay for Flynn, and I think he knows this.
Miami's owner has a lot of money, but a terrible GM. They will upgrade at the QB position before the season starts.
However, I'm not too upset if somehow Henne is the starter week 1. |

Reminds me of Matt Cassel too although he played more games. But then one asks was he that good or was he really a benefit of the system. |

It's called desperation. A local sports talk show host said he talked with a scout who said he wouldn't give Flynn a dime. You have to think part of his success has to due with the Packer system.
don't ask how i know....
just wait for it.
Still waiting.

Was that by any chance the same scout who thought it was wise to draft Ryan Leaf 2nd, and pass on Brady until the 6th round.

#13 Posted: 3/14/2012 9:46:27 PM Have to agree Earthwake.
Every GM is wrong every year about multiple players. Every GM is right every year about multiple players [Not sure]
Scouts are like weathermen which are like linesmakers.
They get jerked off by multiple people because they are right 1 out of 10 times.
Off by 30points in the DUKE GAME Off by 18points in the blank game Off by 11 points in the blank game Within 1 point of the Texas game
HOW DO THEY DO IT???????????
Oh please. For every scout that wouldnt pay Flynn there are 10 others that would.

#14 Posted: 3/14/2012 9:49:33 PM I have to agree about the Packer system.
That New Years day game vs. The Lions where he threw for 480yds is like a bad trend in sports. |

#15 Posted: 3/14/2012 11:45:39 PM The Miami Dolphins just hired the Philbin from the Packers. This guy has spent 4 years with Flynn. The Miami Dolphins are courting Peyton Manning. That is their first choice. That tells me everything I need to know about Matt Flynn. |

#19 Posted: 3/18/2012 10:09:16 PM Hey mugg, be glad Miami has the worst front office in sports.
Nothing against Seattle, Miami choked this one away. Hell, I wouldn't want to play for the Dolphins and I'm a die hard fan. |

Scouts are never wrong.
His offensive coordinator passed on him. Never said scouts weren't wrong, but would you be standing in line to sign a QB if his former offensive coordinator passed on him? Miami never was even close to a front runner for Manning. I'd think they would be interested in a back-up plan. |

#24 Posted: 3/19/2012 2:36:09 PM Quarterbacks that Matt Moore, age 28, was rated (87.1 - 16 TD's, 9 INT's ) higher than last year:
Jay Cutler MIchael Vick Cam Newton Matt Hasselback Kevin Kolb Joe Flacco Carson Palmer Andy Dalton Ryan Fitzpatrick Mark Sanchez Kyle Orton Matt Cassell Josh Freeman Tarvaris Jackson Colt McCoy Tim Tebow Sam Bradford
Philip Rivers (88.7) was only slightly better than Matt Moore. How many millions of dollars in contracts does that list comprise? LINK |

Just heard an interview with Peter King who said the Philbin really wanted Flynn there but he got no support from up above. I don't think Miami is in as dire a need of a qb as Seattle is anyway. As Greyhound posted above, Matt Moore ain't that bad.
Like everyone else here, I'm well aware that this signing is still based a lot on potential. But I like the move because, A) Seattle really needed to improve the qb situation IMMEDIATELY,.....B) Seattle wasn't going to get the qb they wanted with the 12th pick in the draft this year (Taneyhill? .....no thanks) & they weren't going to mortgage the future, nor should they have, to move up & take a guy that hasn't taken a snap in the NFL,.... & C) They get a guy that has some NFL experience (not just game but also being around to learn) & they pay him probably the same as 1 of the top qb's drafted.
What I'm leery of is PC's & Schneider's recent track record..........Charlie Whitehurst? I'll say the same thing now as I said a couple years ago........."WTF ARE YOU THINKING?!!", & signing TJack got about the same reaction from me. So who knows, this may be a bust as well........ |
