Hello everyone and welcome to Covers.com’s second annual Super Bowl blog.
We’re here at the plush Lagasse’s Stadium sportsbook/restaurant at the Palazzo Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas, all alone except for a few thousand energetic fans, ESPN’s Hank Goldberg, and the Canadian radio show Inside the Lines. We’ll be on this thread all afternoon, keeping track of the betting line, total and numerous prop bets.
We’ll also be testing out Lagasse’s new pocketcasino gaming device, which allows us to wager in-game – will the Packers make a first down on this play, will the Steelers make it on 4th-and-1? etc.
Ashton Grewal and I (Larry Josephson) have been in Las Vegas all week – talking with casino executives, oddsmakers, handicappers and some of the thousands of fans who have congregated at Gambling Mecca.
Say hello, let us know who you like, and rant away (cleanly) if you want.

Covers Expert David Malinsky just dropped by our little blog set up here at Lagasse's Stadium and told us his only recommended Super Bowl play was on the under at 45.5.
"I think they're two really competitive teams and it's going to be a close game," Malinsky said.
On a completely unrelated note, a nerdy, Tim Tebow lookalike is getting hammered 10 feet away from me.
I'd put the over/under on jagerbombs at eight so far for Timmy RahRah.

Played the following prop bets here at Lagasse’s Stadium at the Palazzo in Las Vegas:
1. Rashard Mendenhall over/under 75.5 yards rushing $10 to win $20 Pick: OVER Pittsburgh figures to do everything possible to establish the run and keep Ben Roethlisberger from getting beaten up early.
2. Most receiving yards – Mike Wallace or Greg Jennings (Jennings -17.5) $10 to win $18.70 Pick: Jennings If the Packers don’t move the ball in the air, they don’t move the ball.
3. Will Rashard Mendenhall score a touchdown? $10 to win $21 Pick: No. Just a hunch that Pittsburgh will have to throw in the red zone.
4. Sack total for Clay Matthews over/under ½. $10 to win $26 Pick: Under. Have to believe Steelers will roll coverage toward Matthews’s side.
5. Higher rushing yards Jim Taylor in Super Bowl I (56) or Mendenhall. (Mendenhall -18.5) $10 to win $18 Pick: Mendenhall In for a dime, in for a dollar on Mendenhall

This live in-game betting is amazing here at Lagasse's Stadium. Pocket Casino is what they call it and I'm going to be betting everything single play during the Super Bowl because of it. Thank God for technology. It really is a degenerate's best friend.

Yeah, Terry Bradshaw soooooo still hates Big Ben. That handshake at the end of the interview was as fake as my wife's engagement ring. Whoops. I let the cat out of the bag there. Sorry honey.

6. First score of the game – touchdown or field goal/safety? $10 to win $23 Pick: Field goal or safety. Red zone defenses are good and teams figure to be cautious offensively in the early going.
7. Team to make longest field goal $10 to win $18.35 Pick: Packers Mason Crosby has a long of 56.
8. Game to be decided by exactly 3 points. $10 to win $11.40 Pick: No. Just another hunch.
9. Team to throw first interception $10 to win $18.35 Pick: Green Bay Packers have to throw to win. Figuring Rodgers for around 30 passes; Roethlisberger around 25.
10. Total passing TDs by Rodgers $10 to win $16.25 Pick: Under 2 With scoring perhaps in the low 20s, looking at maybe a few field goals, a rushing TD and one passing TD.

What odds could you have gotten before the season on Tom Brady getting the unanimous MVP award, Bill Belichick being named coach of the year and Patriots' not even being in the Super Bowl?

For all of you in the Upper Midwest or Northeast, just want to let you know that here in Las Vegas the temp is 65, the sun is out and there are beautiful women as far as the eye can see.

Aaaa! I see what you did there! I think you got Christina's measurements down too. For those of you who want the inside scoop, she sang for 1:51 doing the National Anthem at the NBA Finals last year. I looked it up on Youtube.com.

From our friend and Covers expert Steve Merril, comments on today's game:
Line has risen to -3 at many locations offshore, but I think there will be more Steelers money coming in later this afternoon. The public is backing the dog, plus anyone liking Pittsburgh was waiting for +3, while anyone liking the Packers took -2.5 when available. Basically, I think most of the Green Bay money has come in, while more Steelers money is likely to show now, perhaps pushing the line back down to 2.5 by kickoff.

Sounds like we've got a lot of Pittsburgh backers in hizzy. That's good because I really didn't want to have to throw-down Jack Johnsons with anyone in here.
