Is Marvin Harrison a first ballot Hall of Famer

I had an argument with my brother about Harrison being a first ballot hall of famer.  I totally don't think he should be he really wasn't that great of an reciever too me.  If he was he'll be on an roster right now an producing for another team.  Hit me up let me know what u think..

Maybe, depends on who is up the year he comes up. He is not in Rice's league, or Emmitt . More along the lines of a Cris Carter.

Who is in Rices league???? 

I think for receivers, Harrison was one of the best. and Yes im pretty damn sure he will be a 1st ballot HOF.

If u look at stats, he is up there for receivers no doubt.........

agreed, though it does suck he just bounced and isnt playing anymore.....do shady gun charges alter the thoughts of anyone

He caught 1,102 passes for 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns -- all rank in the NFL's top five. He broke all of the Colts' major single-season and career receiving records, most previously held by Hall-of-Famer Raymond Berry, and teamed with Manning to form the most prolific passing duo in league history.

Harrison won a Super Bowl and was selected to eight Pro Bowls.

He also has the record for most receptions in a season 143.

His off field issues in the past year or so will hurt his chances significantly IMO

Thanks Peyton for that, with that great pump fake an good playaction any reciever can look good put if on another team does he put up those kind of numbers i don't think so.

No question. I dont see how anybody can say they are a knowledgeable football fan and say no. Thats how good that guy was.
Peyton is an all time great and who was his sidekick? Who comes to mind when you think of P.Manning? Marvin Harisson. They were the best QB/WR combo of all time in terms of td's

but Peyton can make anyone look good Harrison barely could beat the bump, he wasn't physical enough too me.  Peyton just put him in the right spots to score.  Reggie Waynes is a better target than Harrison was.

Bear are you forgetting he ran the best routes and it seemed he didn't drop a pass for 5 years. Marvin caught everything and he had the best footwork in the NFL. He always found a way to get his feet down.

Are you serious?!!?!? He wasn't a great receiver, what are you smoking??  If he was he would be playing for someone right now? Wow you're crazy, the man is fucking 37 what do you expect him to do after he had a coupld of injuries, hes not superman and this isnt baseball? This is by far the stupidest question i've heard on covers.

I give u that he did run good routes, i'm just saying take him out the Colts offense i don't see him producing those numbers he have.

That won't hurt him one bit because he never got convicted or charged. It's irrelevant now.

is marvin harrison a hall of famer, yes. he is a first ballot hall of famer, maybe, it really depends who else is eglible when he is. I think Marvin is overated, look at last night, his stats have more to do with the man throwing the ball then him being an outstanding wide receiver.

Why are you thinking in hypotheticals?? You think that's how the voters are going to think of it, oh what if Marvin Harrison wasn't on the colts and what if he didn't play with Peyton Manning, well i guess based on that we can't put him in the HOF. This is a ridiculous question.

I don't think Tom Brady is a first ballot HOF because if he didn;t the New England defence during their Superbowl run, he wouldn't of won a Superbowl. Just thinking hypothetically.

WTF is this "first ballot" B.S.?
 
If a guy is a Hall of Famer, he's a Hall of Famer....why do some need to wait for a few years....ala Jim Rice?  The fact that some of these players have to "wait" to get in makes the selection committee look like a COMPLETE joke.  So you don't vote for a guy in his first year of eligibilty, but you do vote for him in his tenth year of eligibility?  What a bunch of turds.  It's a simple question:  Hall of Fame caliber or not? 
 
Both Harrison and Carter are Hall of Fame caliber and BOTH of them deserve to go in on the first ballot.  Case closed.
