#26 Posted: 11/12/2012 1:00:42 AM The Summer of 2013 we will have avatars.
The approval process couldn't happen in October, run through October, AND THEN cancel out the inappropriate avatars starting November?
This stinks. Stinks bad.
Wonder what the new website will be called????

#27 Posted: 11/12/2012 1:53:35 AM They have to remove all the pornographic avatars so they aren't liable for showing all the 10 year olds that come on Covers for their gambling tips offensive material. |

#28 Posted: 11/12/2012 9:45:49 AM Seriously CT, this is getting ridiculous. It was on 11/2 that you announced the approval process. On 11/5 you took the avatars out. Yet here we are on 11/12 and still nothing?
Completely dropped the ball.

#29 Posted: 11/12/2012 10:55:16 AM We had to act quickly to remove the avatars because our advertisers (who's funding keeps this site alive) were shocked at the level of smut they saw. We apologise for all users who's avatars were relatviely clean but a small number of you have let everyone else down. CT's hands were tied on this issue.
And if 10 year olds are looking to gamble in this day and age then the problem is clearly much closer to home!
Again, please bear with us...we do greatly regret the inconvenience.

#30 Posted: 11/12/2012 11:48:55 AM CT -- can you give us any firm date as to when we will get them back? I mean you guys said basically it would be a smooth transition, will only take a day or so for the process to be ready, and now we are at one full week and counting.

#32 Posted: 11/12/2012 1:18:00 PM Gilmo574, would you rather we went through each avatar ONE BY ONE to filter out the indecent avatars? Have you any idea how long this takes and how that would unreasonably divert our human resources away from other more serious issues we have to deal with?
I understand not having your picture for a bit is tough on you, reallly. But this was not a decision taken by CT. Soon this will all be over and we can all go back to normal.
Kaponofor,
Sorry but we do not have an estimated date just yet. All we are being told is very soon. Personally I'd be hopeful of a week moer maybe 2 tops!

#34 Posted: 11/12/2012 2:06:49 PM CT -- was any thought given to just going through individual avatars of guys who post? I mean I doubt a user avatar had to be deleted if the person hasn't posted since 2010. Seems to me like the mods, who actively monitor the various forums, would be perfect for this task -- they just zap any inappropriate avatars and make THOSE users go through the approval process. That would let those of us who do not have objectionable avatars not have to go through this headache.

#35 Posted: 11/12/2012 5:17:11 PM Advertisers suddenly were shocked? Huh.
Must be those new custom ads that tie in to user searches.
Those are relatively new, so to tie them in to the idea that this site wouldn't exist without advertisers is at best misleading.
This site was around long before those type of ads, and none of the sportsbooks were ever concerned about the avatars.
Next thing you know those same advertisers are going to be shocked at actual gambling being discussed. Just saying. Be careful what you wish for.

#36 Posted: 11/12/2012 5:50:58 PM Hi kaponofor3,
We wish it was that simple but the avatars are sorted aphabectically not by the number of posts.
DarkHorse21,
As was said our hands are tied. We cannot exist without adveriser support.

#37 Posted: 11/12/2012 8:20:17 PM Actually the pictures and what not are what made Covers stand out to me. It's tons o f websites about gambling and what not. But the freedom users had with avatars and the comfort of the site is what made me keep coming back.
This site seemed like home, like a real community of guys that were about the games, gambling and just having fun and enjoyment. Now you come with all these dumb rules about garbage and what we can and can not do when it comes to a damn Avatar.
Now when I go to these threads and see either blank Avatars, or generic ones that you provide. It doesn't seem like the Covers i've come to love. The garbage is just weird man, just a strange kind of site now. No personality to the threads, the site is weak as hell now. Definitely gonna look at some alternative websites that provide the same type of information and community.
Ya'll have messed this whole site up....

Yes, I do. You have people who get PAID working for your site.
Your advertisers are paying YOU to do this...
So YOU pay people to do this.
It's a broken record.
You guys screwed up. |

#39 Posted: 11/13/2012 11:01:49 AM Day 8 now that avatars have been taken away and still no approval process. Do you guys even have people working on this? There is no way that putting together an approval process could be so difficult that it takes eight days (in reality, 11 days seeing as this was announced on 11/2) to get set up.
Come on CT, I love this site but this is getting ridiculous. We want our avatars back.

#41 Posted: 11/13/2012 4:21:48 PM This is CRAZY. Mine was of a car, had it since I joined. It came back for a hour then disappeared. Why am I seeing some members with theirs back, did they go thru the process, or is this one of those WHO YOU KNOW type situations????If the system is not up yet then no one should have a custom picture, cmon CT lets keep it even across the board. |

#42 Posted: 11/13/2012 4:56:11 PM Users who's ORIGINAL avatars (that were originally disabled) have now been approved (manually by us) are being sent back to them now. We are still waiting for the actual approval softare to be brought in. Once it has been users can change avatars and submit new ones for approval.Again, I'm afraid there is still no definite ETA on this software. Believe me, its frustrating us just as much as you guys.
Also Gilmo, we WERE doing it all one-by-one...problem was idiots kept changing and submitting new indecent avatars after we banned them...this is nigh IMPOSSIBLE to monitor. think about it...you spend hours on end inspecting avatars and removing (then warning owners of) those in breach of decency rules...then they just change right back again completely unbeknownst to us...i'm sure you are aware that no amount of money can solve that problem with just sheer human labor.
You seem to think you can do it better yourself though...we may have to offer you a job!Sounds like it'll be easy for you
Again, please bear with us...we know it is tough and EXTREMELY frustrating but soon this will all be over.
Apologies again,
CT

#46 Posted: 11/14/2012 12:09:29 AM So the original avatars will be restored to just a few users? Or people who never changed them? This is getting increasingly confusing.

No I didnt get an email, I just saw it and thought it was back because it wasnt pornographic. I just see some guys with their old ones, I just want my old one back, to me that is what made COVERS stick out from the other sites, just my 2 cents. |
