with AP at +150 right now I think I might jump on it.  I really think a decent amount of the 50 voters will go with AP b/c when the hell else is he actually going to win it? I think it's now or never to vote for him and his 2,030 yards rushing or whatever he ends up with should be enough in my opinion

Spoiler alert...

Peyton Manning will win it.  Here's why...

He has won it before even though he may not have deserved it.  Sometimes he has, but some of those times he didn't.  However, the NFL and the general public love this guy.  His funny commercials, his charasmatic smile, etc.  Not to mention the fact that he is pretty damn good.

I really think there shouldn't be an MVP voting for the simple fact that it's such a team sport.  How anyone can possibly say that one player is more valuable than this guy or that guy is beyond me, and in all reality, just absurd.  Hence, I personally think it's a senseless and pointless award.

I would bring up actual statistics backing my statement that he really didn't deserve it every time he has received it, but somebody took the liberty of hacking my email, and now I can't access it.  Thanks a**hole.

But Peyton will win it.  It sucks that I know this because the suspense is gone, but my lack of concern for this nonsensical event (the naming of the MVP) makes it irrelevant to me anyways.

I hear ya SteelCash, but I honestly think the voters are going to give it to AP if he turns in a decent weekend this week and/or the Vikes make the playoffs.

I discussed it a bit last week in an article I wrote: http://www.3dphillysports.com/2012/12/vegas-update-latest-nfl-mvp-odds.html

But the 3 scenarios where he wins it I listed were:
  1. He breaks the rushing record. Needs 294 rushing yards in the next two games. I think there's roughly a 60 percent chance he gets there.
  2. Peterson falls short of the record, but the Vikings make the playoffs. Straight math puts it at about a 28% chance for them to get in. Given the Vikes are playing the Texans and Packers, I'd put the odds a bit lower actually. We'll call it a 20 percent chance to make it simple, I could argue that it should be even lower, but we'll leave mathematical equations out of the mix for now.
  3. Peterson falls short of the record, the Vikings miss the playoffs in a competitive fashion (beat Houston, lose a close one to Green Bay?), but he tops 2,053 rushing yards (would make him top 3 all-time in a single season).

hahahaha funny how you guys are stupid and don't know sh it about football...  All over Peyton.. He is playing with a very well balance team, good defense, maybe with the best defensive player that's out there, and in the worst division of the NFL around 3 teams with a 12-33 record.. I believe it is not so hard to have a 12-3 record when you play them 6 times.

The only thing that goes his way is the fact that it was his first year with a new team, with new coaches and new system, new town, new teamates, etc. But OMG sooooo many QBs ahead of the Broncos will have perform as much as he did.

that's what I'm saying, I think the 50 voters take that into account when they cast their vote for AP over Peyton. AP wins MVP, Peyton comeback players.

Vegas odds are -200 Peyton though still.  +150 AP.   So vegas definitely think Peyton has this

they also played the NFC South round-robin...  3 losing teams.  Except for Atlanta -- though, oops, the Falcons crushed them.

Denver's win over Cincinnati was impressive.  But not that impressive.  Can't wait to see PM take his career 9-10 playoff record into this offseason.

Calvin is having a great year but on a shitty asss team. What is he the MVP for?
Also, a lot of his yards have come in garbage time. Great player, great year, not MVP.

Payton did not really make Denver all that much better, they made the playoffs last year with ................the prayer man as a QB in Tebow. A guy who was lousy as a QB and will probably not even be working next year as a player. Manning did not really raise the bar all that much.

they won 10 in a row by beating each by at least 7 pts.  who can say that this year?  or the last 3 years?

10 in a row by 7+ points is very impressive. I'm not sure I realized that until you said it.

So if AP comes up 60 yards short and they miss the playoffs, then he likely does NOT win MVP, right?

If he comes up 60 yards short and they grab the 6 seed, then I'm thinking he does.

This +150 is a tough one to read as to whether or not there's value in it or not. I'm still thinking there is though

no playoffs, no chance.  look at the previous mvps.  they are on teams that are either #1 or 2 seeds.  Rodgers last year, Brady when NE was 16-0, Manning when colts were #1 and won SB.  the last 3 rbs(LT, Shaun Alexander, Faulk) who won it scored 20+ td.  Peterson just has 11.

if minny makes playoffs i'd say 55/45.

Great season for AP but he is obviously doping no one could come back that fast from such and injury and perform like that so that will keep votes from him, Manning has run the table with his team and will have a good shot to be in the superbowl can't see how he does not get the mvp.(and I am a Pats fan)

If i had to vote it would go to AP first because the vikings qb is horrible and teams know that peterson is the only thing that can beat them on that team. The fact that they might make the playoffs is because he is unstoppable this year. Then my ote would go as follows 2.Luck- hes story is almost like petersons just not having an incredible seasons like peterson3. Manning- what he has done with a new team and coming back from he injury he had is incredible4. Brady- hes the leader but not all the team has as hey have the best TE and two of the top wide receivers in football
