#1 Posted: 4/13/2012 8:08:41 PM Let's say you are holding a ticket right now for ATL -2. They are up 20 at half, and the halftime line is ORL -3.5, which basically means you are staring a 14 point middle in the face (i.e., if you take ORL -3.5 on the 2H, ATL could win by 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, or 16 points and you win both bets).
How large of a margin do you personally need to have to want to shoot for the middle? I've encountered this issue multiple times, often with totals more frequently than sides, and have never made a firm set of rules for myself on "only shoot for the middle if you have a middle of XYZ points."
Just curious as to my fellow degenerates' thoughts on this.

#3 Posted: 4/13/2012 8:21:15 PM i wouldnt go for the middle. being up by 20 why not just take the ticket and hope its a winner at the end of the game. just my 2 cent. wait for a better bet |

#4 Posted: 4/13/2012 8:21:21 PM Same pickle as you I'm sure. I never could get a grasp, it usually somehow burns me one way or another. I'm much more hesitant to shoot for middles nowadays. However, matter of fact I'm debating if I should shoot for that middle right now.

#6 Posted: 4/13/2012 8:24:25 PM I dont usually go with sides and was sorry more than once that I didnt,but totals Ive done a few on,at least 8 points for me,but it depends on if I think I have a great shot at a middle,otherwise just go with the one winner, like on Atl.-2 I have,Im just going to leave it alone and hope they hold on.

#7 Posted: 4/13/2012 8:34:34 PM i personal think you should only bet halftime wagers when a team that is favor by lets say 7 or more pts and they are down by like 7 at halftime. then most of the time the team that was fav by like 7 is usually giving like 7 at halftime and all they have to do is just win the game and your halftime bet is good.
just like getting a team thats -300 on the moneyline for even money. |

#9 Posted: 4/13/2012 8:37:21 PM most teams that are fav by alot will make a run in the 2nd half to get in the game. doesnt mean they will always win for you but the chances are good.
kinda like if the over/under was set at 200 and 1st the teams only scored total of 75. you should puond the over |

Thats not a middle though,your getting a better # on your over,like with SA over last night,had over 196.5 for game,then added more on sec.half over 97,which was 191 over for game,62 point 3rd 1/4 set me up for 2 winners.

#12 Posted: 4/13/2012 8:57:44 PM I find it very difficult not to shoot for the middle when I have something like 12 plus points... It doesn't always work, but when it does it is freaking beautiful.
