So for those of you in the 'YES' camp who had the Hawks last night (and using your logic) I want you to call up your sportsbook and explain to them: "Well, Chicago had the lead for most of the game, so shouldn't I at least get some of my money back?" Let us know how that works out.

The NHL was doing just fine when a tie was a tie. 2 points for a win, and 1 for a tie - no OT, and no ugly-behind shootouts!
It made OT in the Stanley Cup Play-offs a very, very exiting and unique event.

I was just saying that when you go an entire season without experiencing OT and it gets to the Stanley Cup, and there is so much riding on the outcome, it used to be really something special. That's all! Didn't mean to be negative at all about play-off OTs.
I guess what I really mean, deep down, is that I think if you're going to have OT, then play til someone wins, not just 5 minutes. And, I absolutely HATE shootouts. It's like having a free throw contest to win an NBA game.

I'm not a big fan of the shootout but it does bring some excitement for the crowd. Before it comes to that they should play 5 min of 4 on 4 then 5 min of 3 on 3 and if it isn't settled after that proceed with a shootout. |

I personally like this 2-1-0 system. Makes teams EARN the pts the old fasion way, winning while actually playing hockey, not waiting for penality shots knowing you already have one pt in the bag. Good Idea.
