somewhere in the bill is a proposal to change the name "woman" to "person container"
i guess if you can't get them to vote for you, you should pass a law that exposes all of them to greater risk of prison sentences of there is a person miscarriage. they can't vote in prison.

I thought he was thought of a presidential candidate....
why would he purposely engage in such a poor choice of strategy to alienate possible voters?
The GOP tried so hard in 2008 to desperately take the attention away from anything involving social, medical, scientific issues/stances and kept preaching over and over and over that the election was about the economy....
Mainly because they had to do damage control because the GOP could not shut up long enough not make themselves look stupid... All they have to do is cool it on crap like this, focus on the economy/fiscal/financial issues and they could have had a legit shot at winning the presidency...
but here we go again... perhaps this is sign that he doesnt want to ruin for president... Either that or this is the the new way to signal to the GOP that he does want to be a candidate... in the 2012 election all a GOP had to do to throw their hat in the ring was start spewing birther conspiracy talk and suddenly the party would endorse them as a possible candidate...

i think the idea is to piss off every woman voter, and any male who has a female mother, child or wife, and at the same time show that he is for small government by getting the government involved in every pregnancy in the country. or something.

CD, did you type it that way or was it "dic.k container" and changed by the censor program?

why outlaw abortion? The world is over populated, kids get neglected, abused, some are malnourished.
Just doesnt make any sense to me.
Maybe make late term abortion illegal excpet for certain circumstances but come on people
no doubt lord...
I hear you from a big picture standpoint on the issue... but I am also thinking in terms of strategy for someone that is being talked about as a presidential candidate..
and to make this a priority in the mist of a financial/fiscal/economic crisis... just makes like all that talk about the teaparty/GOP being about the debt/economy look like a lie...
I just dont get the assistance in such poor choice of strategy... I did not hear from Ron about this issue much... he talked more about the bipartisan spending problem

I just think that it is a losing proposition to attempt to tell people that chopping innocent babies into pieces whilst they grow in their mother's womb is wrong.

I just looked it up and you're right rick. Ron Paul is against abortion.
Shake my head.
I get being against late term abortion but being against abortion entirely is wrong on so many levels. If government wants to create a time limit on it, I'm OK with it.
There also need to be more info available on the subject from women. I also think women should be openly told about abortion, birth control, and be taught about the morning after pills.
An abortion saved my a$$ when i was younger. We were able to get it done early, cuz i told her, i came inside her and didn't pull out. She told her mom the next day and i gave her mom 1,600 bucks to get the job done. I have no idea what happened after that.
I saw her a few months later and she told me it was OK and then i never saw her again.
It would have destroyed my life, her life, and the babies life if that child had been born. Condoms should come with morning after pills.

People love abortion and handouts.
You can't overtly attack both and expect to win.
i don't understand why these republicans don't get it. extreme abortion positions and bigger and bigtger government is not a winning issue. i think it requires an IQ in the high double digits to realize this. the problem is that it's hard to find a republican who still qualifies above that very low bar. it's such a losing issue yet they keep coming back again and again and more extreme and with a bigger government approach.

It is just like the Gun issue. You don't friggin campaign on it, and you wait until your second term to tackle it, and even then you still fail most of the time.
If Rand wants to outlaw abortion, he should realize that he needs to become the pres. To become the pres he needs to shut the hell up about abortion.

true, but such an extreme and anti-woman approach would have no chance unless we just turned this country into the christian taliban nation many rightwingers want it to be. so, in this case, you shut the hell up about it during the campaign, before the campaign and after the campaign as it does damage not just to him but the party in general.

It is pretty easy to keep hands off in the presidency, but doing it in the second term is key.
Look at Obama and the gun fiasco that just took place, even though it failed it is the way that political operatives should operate.
It is smart.
Take advantage of an opportunity to push your agenda. (I am not saying there will be a sandy hook of abortion, but there are tons of examples that could be perpetuated if the media outlets that the administration controls are on board).
Find a few willing accomplices.
-A Senator known for anti abortion views (someone like Feinstein who is old and worried more about legacy than longevity. Someone who has run their course and is about to be put to pasture).
-Some mayors and Governors.
-And it shouldn't be to hard to find some Congressman to introduce the bill.
Then from there it is a roll of the dice and let the chips fall as they may.

I appreciate your realness on you post... in a forum with so many fake identities and crap... a real life personal perspective is nice...

I disagree with the GOP's current strategy to run on an anti-prochoice agenda... I dont think there are alot of pro-life democrats to try to convert... that is why it is a poor strategy... and probably does more harm then good... its like taking a few steps backward, dropping to one knee and downing the ball...
I dont think the president should use executive powers to end prochioce... its an over extension of his powers... it is also not the job of the legislative branch neither... plus these routes only poke at the femnazi hornets nest...
but this is where checks and balances occur... rand would need to win the presidency to be able to make appointments to the supreme court that will over turn roe vs wade....
and if hillary has a crack at it we may see things shift to insurmountable odds... so the 2016 election is crucial...
I do agree with you that what prochioce people should do is STFU... but they cant... and its hurting them...
I mean check the score board... is prolife winning?
and their strategy of taking 3 knees and punting isnt lighting up the score board...
