#1 Posted: 4/4/2011 3:01:06 AM just going to post some thoughts on what i see
A+++ (kinsler, R weeks, N CRUZ, TEXIERIA NYY)
Richie weeks offseason workout = monster HR #s kinsler swing on all 3 hr have been half assed (see mlb.tv highlights) TEX NYY ( a lot of power opposite field )
MATT KEMP A+++ (1 bad AB all weekend) all other AB have been quality.
all these guys are A+++ so far opening week.
A+ (castro ss CHC)
A (ellsbury BOS)
deeper leagues:
david murphy ( TEX ) $$, splits time but hes so damn good.
jose lopez (2B, 3B) this guy swung n it went deep n out fast, $$$ i expect a 25-30HR 10-15SB year out of this monster. because he wants a 35-60MIL contract ((7-10mil yr deal ) yeah i bet you are laughing)) possible rebound year!!!!!!!!!!! 290-300 AVG possible
B+ grade: BEN ZORBIST ( no longo means hes in the 3 hole, hes driving the ball over 300 feet consistently, some deep fly out and 1 HR so far, could be a big rebound year.
ALEX GORDON (B+ so far) decent in 3 hole
TILLMAN BAL (decent prospect) A grade thru 1 start, former top prspect
F grade: bucholz, wasnt sharp 90-94fastball wasnt working, must lower it, or else he is doomed, walking too many guys, needs to trust his stuff. ERA and HR/FLYBALL will rise if he doesnt lower the fastball.
plenty of other guys i saw, but hey these guys come out of my mind... |

#3 Posted: 4/4/2011 2:26:34 PM For teams scrounging to find a catcher, Nick Hundley looks impressive so far... he's been getting better each year and will have most of the ABs this year
Starting Pitchers to keep an eye on: Zach Britton, matt harrison
Its obviously early, but as far as Bullpens go... Rodney has been shaky, I can see Jordan whalden being next in line for save opps if rodney keeps struggling. Also sean burnett seems to be the guy for the Nats right now

#4 Posted: 4/4/2011 5:16:31 PM hundley is worthless because he plays 82 games in petco unless you just play him on the road
buccholz will be fine, he pitched in a texas wind storm in that ballpark and wasnt as bad as you made it seem, he is a stud
way too early is right but always good to talk about it, weeks is still killing it, pissed i took perdroia instead of jose bautista at this point because 2b is so deep but uggla went 21st and weeks went right after dustin |

#5 Posted: 4/4/2011 5:46:15 PM weeks is killing it, they said he bulked up a lot in the offseason, it really shows, his chest is XXXL (see him on mlb.tv) i never seen a guy that big at 2B haha...
harrison struck out pedroia on 97mph pitch that went in on him. that was an insane pitch. defitenly impressive. i looked at the replay a few times becuz well im not sure if he can go 97... he was around 92-94 most of the time. he struck out gonzo on a breaking pitch, im impressed by harrison. he changed speeds very very very effectively.
rodney has been a C- grade, kimbrel is A++ right now ( ATL) D- B LYON ( looked lost)
britton looked great A+ grade, drabek, tillman are also A+ grades. so far though.
its always early, and im just observing what i see. thats what i do
randy wells so far impressive (B grade because its only the dbacks)
i selected drabek as my ROY for AL before the season started.

#6 Posted: 4/4/2011 5:59:32 PM harrison has four pitches, slider, change, curve, and a fastball.
his change is roughly 10 miles slower than his fastball. he threw his slider 15% of the time in 2010. i need another game to evaluate him more.
tillman has four pitches, his change is 12 miles slower. curve ball ~25% of the time. |

#9 Posted: 4/6/2011 9:00:22 PM pick up ogando ( unless ur in my league )=)
ogando has impressive stuff, he can pull back for 97mph heater if he has to. ( his arsenal is impressive )
anyguy that can spot their fastball is impressive. i dont see ogando struggling as much as harrison.
hes developing a fifth pitch ( split finger ) as we speak. |

#19 Posted: 4/10/2012 7:26:21 PM Samardjza(sp) and nicasio both have big time upside (particular nicasio) . I really like what i saw from nicasio last year before he got hurt... had a nice first start this season |

#20 Posted: 4/11/2012 12:05:55 PM samardjza is pimp, 6'5'' body like the 6'7'' weaver, throws the ball not across the body. his velocity just like weaver a little faster...
he pretty much acts and moves like weaver... this is what weaver would look like sorta if he didnt throw across the body... wouldnt u say? dude is amazing... his next task is the STL, should be a dnady to watch even if he gets lit up for 3 or more runs. i hope he doesnt get lit up. and i wish its lynn vs sam.
feliz was pretty sharp, survived 7 innings, fielded the ball good. he looked like he was just in his closer days (not letting the ball get out of the infield) pretty exciting to see him throw inside...his benefits were he could watch his fellow mates pitch the day before and know the weakness of each batter. A+ start, he was incons. in the beginning, but found his fastball. he should be a dandy.
lance lynn, this is what joba facking chamberlin should of been, this is a 250+ lb kid who can throw 93-96. averaging round 94ish... his fastball looked amazing... a finnese and power pitcher if he could develop a little more, already pimping it. he had carpenter and wainwright to tutor him along with lohse and westbrook, this guy should be owned in all leagues unless ur staff is already pimp'd out |

"A" because he ended up that season be runner up MVP, my observations are based on how good their ABs are. i can see the end of the tunnel light when others cant. a hard loud out is just as good as a hit. others cant see that, esp if theyre just looking at the box score. |

#22 Posted: 4/11/2012 12:28:04 PM nova SP NYY breaking pitches are ill, this kid will be lights out
garcia SP NYY seat warmer for pettite/pineda...
r martin, if he has to catch garcia and nova, he wont be productive at plate since he will have to catch too many balls in dirt and waste his energy blocking and not hitting. look for a weak year offensively, thats my take... |

#23 Posted: 4/14/2012 12:29:20 AM Samardjza(sp) and nicaso both looked ugly toooday
hudson looked like a joke too...
anyways, saeger looks legit, so is jd martinez... i'd like to see more AB from saeger but he looks like he can handle the outside pitch very well.
peavy and harang did well today, so fade them next week... unless well harang plays a weak team...
duda looks like garbage. |
