The only way to beat Pitt is to out score them. Maybe the extra day off could cool this hot team, but a Pens and the over bet is warranted. What's this garbage I keep hearing about trade rumors with Iginla coming to the Pens? This is NOT a good idea... It's nice to get a veteran presence within your club but it isn't needed anymore. This team has grown through adversity and no longer needs training wheels. I'd like to see Bouwmeester(?) rather than Iginla, Pitts weakness is the Defense. No offense to Letang but Scuderi/Gonchar were the biggest keys to winning the cup. And the only way Pitt doesn't make the Eastern conference final is the defense/goal-tending comes up short. But with Fleury having an awesome safety-net with Vokuon, the D is the guy in the armor. I think Niiskanen solidifies this defense and keeps them (for me) in the top 12-14 th in the NHL. Unless you plan on sticking Iginla on the last line and not upsetting the offensive order of things, I think Bill Guerin was malleable, a one-of-a-kind player that filled a spot no one else could. Theres nothing wrong with this offense and upsetting the balance... well take a look at the Capitals(Fleischman/Semin), Sharks(Setoguchi/Heatly), Detroit(Holmstrom) and the Devils who thought they were buying a "Big-Gun" with Kovalchuk. Do I dislike Jerome Iginla? .... No, I just like him better over there

Sd-J.....But what was your pick??? I know that you are an ice birds fan, however I cannot highlight enough, that your knowledge and passion for the game in general is second to none upon this here river of canoes gone adrift called covers..Reminds me muchly of a Monsieur greatly missed..Where are thou Mon-E?? If it wasn`t for your write-ups I would stay in the stands and watch from afar tooting on my horn as I have for way too long now, yet you inspire me my friend to get involved and share the love and contrary insight we have for this game as much as I may be wrong on most occasions. When it comes to the proposed trades and the outlook for your ice birds I hold no view, however I totally agree with the Capitals(Fleischman/Semin),
Sharks(Setoguchi/Heatly), Detroit (Holmstrom) and the Devils thingo
before I proceed ..However I disagree with Vokoun being a solid
backup..Something has gone a wry with this guy since joining your birds
and I have no idea what it is,but it is evident from watching him bounce
pucks off his back into the net that it will take time..Til then stick with the Fluery. That said,I do have an opinion as to day to day occurrences(due to my short attention span) as too what I see occurring within this here matchup..Given that I`m in Oz and watch only the games presented to me on fox, they are primarily games that would be high raters in Canada and the U.S..And A lot of those games involve Sydney..I`m a quack-pot for your guide and much enjoyed the Ducks-Hawks matchup the other night as you could imagine..Now that I have cleared that up... The Penguins have a bad habit(like my Ducks) too fall behind early and then stage a comeback that no-one would expect. The Hawks ain`t far behind..This is never a good thing from a numbers game propective and if therei s any team they scores goals rrom being down to eventually win matches its the Penguins. Could not count on both hands how many time in the last 10 games that they have come from behind to win in the last 10 mins.. So even though the Isles are back to back they still have the youth and enthusiasm to steal a win on home ice from your birds..Plus the odds are far too nice to pass on...Either way I hope I have pissed off enough potsers to have them say.."Get a hotel" whilst they post their no reason pick..GL with your birds this season as this may be my last write-up until Lord Stanley makes his presence felt...Remember,BIRD IS THE WORD...

Even with the absence of Malkins and Letang and possibly Cooke the Pens are still juiced. Crosby, Kunitz, Neal and Dupuis you would think might be enough to get by the Islanders tonight. Letangs absence hurts the club worse than Malkins, for PP reasons only. Martin/Niiskanen aren't very accurate shots from the top so chasing or trying to block their shots won't be as important as their defensive assignments underneath on the PK. If'n it's Pittsburghs night the D should get 2 goals or assists on redirections. I don't see Pitts D jumping into the offensive play without Letang, Niiskanen/Martin combo can take the steam out of the Tavares line. Pitt gets the W 4-1 or 4-2. And that's only if Martin doesn't try to prove he can play offense too, he gets caught deep the Isles will be going the other way with it.

Almost forgot, I'm thinking Vokoun is one of them sensitive types. For never getting any real recognition as the back-bone of the Predators organization for all them years. And now they actually have some talent there and Pekka Rinne practicaly invented goal-tending! he's pisd. (I'd be pisd) I think he really only had the one starting job at Florida and being on a terrible team gave him an unfair label. I mean look at Jose Theodore (who's absolutely atrocious) but somehow gets his TV coverage anytime his team even farts in the general vicinity of a W. Then his time with the Caps wasn't great either but they didn't commit to one net minder, this has never really worked with the exception of Boston. Then again the Caps D really sucked then too, just watching Green single-handedly lose 2 games against Montreal trying to be an offensive hero instead of doing his job. But I feel safer with Vokoun rather than Johnson ... no disrespect to Johnson.
