Luongo is not at the end of the road; he's 33. Still atleast 5 years in him. Columbus would have a star goalie. For the Canucks, Nash with the Sedins could potentially be the best line we've seen in years.

In my opinion the trade makes absolutely no sense what so ever. The reason I believe Luongo hasnt been deal yet is because all the other teams are well aware that they have the upper hand. Vancouver is going to be forced to get rid of Luongo for very little if teams continue to wait it out, and I believe this is happening. It's clear that Shneider will be the #1, so teams know that eventually the Canucks will have to get rid of that contract. Why give up so much to a team that will soon become desperate to get rid of Luongo.

Think about the Jackets current goalie situation and then think about inserting Roberto Luongo in there. Don't see it happening, but the Jackets would be a much better team.

Gillis is doing the right thing in waiting it out, he can probably dump Lou in TO or Florida anytime he wants, however, if the new CBA allows for players over 35 who retire still under contact to be taken off the cap books would likely make him much more marketable to more teams.
