What coaches corner were you watching? What Cherry said was that every kid in Ontario has a dream of playing for the Leafs but it won't happen because he figures Burke doesn't like to have Ontario or Canadian kids on his squads.

Burke's an overrated GM and the axe should of dropped on him as well.

I'm not a fan of Brian Burke, but to say he has something against Ontario players is simply false. Burke has been the GM for 3 drafts with the Leafs. They have drafted 8 Ontario kids in those 3 years. Does anyone here really think that Burke would not trade for a player that hails from Ontario if he thought it was the right move? Nothing but a bunch of hyperbole last night, time to move on.......

His biggest blunder was giving up the two 1st round draft picks (a 2nd round pick was also included) for Kessel. You can't make that kind of trade when you are rebuilding, especially when you knew that there was a high probability that the traded draft picks would be very high choices. Boston fans love Burkie though.

esp when you have what would have been a top 1st rounder like Tyler Seguin (22-29 for 51 points thru 62 games) tearing it up. that's a real "egg on face"

Ive watched about 10 leafs game this year.  Kessel is by far the most exciting, skilled and fastest player on the ice.

I understand that when rebuilding you need your high draft picks, but Kessel is playing by himself out there. Look what he was done for Lupuls career.

I hate the Leafs, but Kessel IMO is a good player who makes Toronto a better team.

Cheers

I'm not disputing Kessel's talent. However, that is the type of trade you only make to add what you think is the missing ingredient to an already top tier team. A bottom feeder team should not make that trade unless they need a "face" for the franchise. Obviously TO does not fall into that category.

As Rat mentioned, Mr. Seguin (an Ontario boy) would look great in a Leafs sweater and would help keep the ranting down. Not to mention the other two picks given away...
