#103 Posted: 11/15/2012 9:59:57 AM Last night's leans that I didn't play: 7-0Last night's game that was the play: 0-1
Alright, I am cutting my losses for the week and not wagering again until Monday....however I will cap all games and provide write-ups.....
This week will provide a lot of ammunition to those that say I should not limit myself to just 1 game...and you know what....you may be right....I never assumed that my evolution and growth as a sports better had reached its pinnacle....just like with anything in life, you can always be better, and do better.....so I will spend the rest of this week thinking about how I do this....truth be told this has never happened before....normally when I am off, I am off....I lose the game I played as well as a majority of the leans....this week, and especially yesterday, is extremely frustrating because I could and should be having a good week, and instead I am 0-3....
Oh well....just one more thing to consider over the rest of this week....
Week 1: 4-1 +$2900
Week 2: 0-3 -$3400 |

#105 Posted: 11/15/2012 10:29:53 AM I hear you Russ. Keep your chin up. Still will follow you in whatever direction you choose to go. We all have had days, weeks, and for me, months where things just turn out differently then we thought. It's all about attitude and we have to stay positive. It's a grind and we will grind it out and make $$$$. Just want to let you know I'm with ya and feel for ya. |

#107 Posted: 11/15/2012 11:45:43 AM Great job with the leans man, but don't let that bug you that the plays you didn't make won.. You have your style and if I were you I would stick to that, because you have had success with it in the past.
I believe the #1 reason people do fail at this is lack of consistency & lack of discipline. The second you turn from Ur approach is the day that Ur favorite play cashes & all of your leans lose. You just gotta do what makes sense for you... Sports investing is so random, anything can happen in any given night. Here is an example for last night for me.. I had 6 plays, 5 in which were dogs -- I play ML dogs with a spread of 7 or less in both football & basketball for .5 unit along with my normal plays for 2 units.. Well anyways, I was on det+7.5 & Charlotte+8 , both won straight up but I didn't play on the ML, because they didn't make the cut of being less than 7. The 3 other dogs, Jazz+5, pacers+4, & Phoenix+3 all lost SU. So I go 3-2-1 on the night & 0-3 on MLs & made a small profit. My point of that story is there's a reason I don't play dogs SU that are more than 7, because I have data from the past couple seasons showing it not to be profitable.. There's a reason why you only play one play a day & that's because you have success doing it that way.. Just a bad couple plays this week, shake it off & move on to the next one.
Good luck moving forward Russell, Nothing but success brother! |

#108 Posted: 11/15/2012 1:24:34 PM GL bud. Been following your picks but havent pulled the trigger yet. I was on that dallas game you lost. Cost me big one there too. Yesterday was good day though. Very surprised you took the heat though. I thought clippers were the obvious play or no play. GL in future though |

#109 Posted: 11/15/2012 4:07:09 PM Still with you RusseUK! We all know the feeling of picking the winning team and not betting them. That's how they get us to play more. Then the odds is against us. Its just one bad week Your next bet is going to be a winner for sure! Thanks for all the write ups appreciate it brotha! BOL

#111 Posted: 11/15/2012 7:32:06 PM Thanks guys...all your comments are much appreciated.....idub you are most likely correct, which is why I will take the rest of the week and just cap but not play...and then I will reassess on Monday, but most likely I will go back to my system....
Here are my thoughts on tonight's games:
Boston - Celtcs playing with purpose right now....Nets are equally hot winning 3 straight, but those wins were in a home and home against Orlando, and Cleveland.....2 of their 3 other games were against Toronto and Minny (which was a loss) and the only quality team they have faced this season so far was Miami, and they lost that one by 30......I feel like the Celtics have a 50/50 chance of winning this game, so getting 5 points sounds pretty good....
San Antonio - I have been a big fan of the Knicks so far, and its hard to argue with a team that is 1st in points allowed and 2nd in points scored...but the Spurs are a machine, and they have started the season 7-1 for the 7th time in their history...that is just nuts (as a Raptors fan, I honestly can't even imagine it).....it seems a little crazy to bet against an undefeated team AND have to give 5 points, but the line being where it is tells me that Spurs are the play...
Denver - oh Heat....how you hurt me so....here's what I don't understand.....Clippers are a better team then the Nuggets....in LA Miami is +1, and then the next night in Denver they are +3.5? This line is begging you to take Miami and as with San Antonio above, is very telling.....
If I was playing I would probably take San Antonio
I just went back through this thread and found the following: Monday I was 4-1 on leans, Tuesday I was 2-1 and yesterday I was 7-0...so 13-2 on games I liked but didn't play, and that lovely 0-3 on the games I actually played....but the one positive I can take away from this week is that I am seeing the league on a whole pretty clearly, so I can continue to have confidence in my capping, which is good....
So hopefully the fact that I'm not playing anything means all 3 of my leans today will win
BOL to all |
