So I'll wait to see who ACTUALLY runs in the race before speculating on this race. The Derby is just another race to me a $20 winner in the Derby pays exactly the same as a $20 winner in a N3L at CD. Not a big deal to me one way or the other.

All due respect Gambler, I'm on a limb you spend a couple extra minutes on the Derby.
I agree with a lot of you guys, I could talk about this all day.

Not sure I agree with this. The Super Bowl is just another game because it offers the same value as any other game. But this race offers huge value. Fact: Atlass played a five horse tri box last year (and gave it to me) and it payed well for a moderate investment.
Fact: 315 you post four horses every race you cap even if its a three horse field. So get all your colored pens and take your top four and play the ex/tri box. I am sure you can dig up a few extra bucks or find somebody to share the cost of the ticket with you. But that would be the hard part. 315 this is your mission, do you accept? This post will self destruct in 15 seconds.

Its a great field for us gamblers. And maybe we will see a monster come out of this. These are just babys and I see loads of talent and potenial. I agree this might not be the best bunch we have seen but a very competitive bunch.

CONGRATULATIONS! A thread with a lively, intelligent discussion, some great pros and cons and a lot of interaction.
I wish it was like this everyday of the year.
Regardless of the talent level of the 2012 Derby entrants compared to past years, there seems to be no clear cut winner. Therefore, I think we'll have a lot of fun the next two weeks discussing this race.

Check out this guy's gamble column on a couple Derby long shots at this link - https://bit.ly/IWc6he
Kinda interesting but I'm leaning toward Bodemeister at this point. Can Union Rags get 1 1/14?
