#10891 Posted: 12/12/2012 6:53:17 PM I just want to take a moment and ask everyone to pray for the families and the people affected by the tragic events that took place here in Portland yesterday. There is far too much hate in this country of all types. Political, racial, ethnic, and religious hate must come to an end. Americans have become far too intolerant on a personal level. Maybe the impersonal way of the internet has made it easier to voice your hatred for other groups. It needs to stop. Everybody should make an effort to challenge those who continue to use the internet to spew their hatred.
What does hatred have to do with what happened yesterday you may ask. In this environment of unfiltered hate it takes its on many forms. The younger generation is growing up in a environment where they are taught by the world that being courteous is for weak people and the only way to survive is to be a bully or express hate for this group or that group. Consequently we are raising a nation of haters and intolerant youth. Can't get a job? It's the illegals fault. Just go kill a bunch of people. Your party didn't win the election? It's the Communist Democrats fault. Just go kill a bunch of people. Got fired today? It's the Fascist Republicans fault. Just go kill a bunch of people. The excuses go on and on. I'm just using these extreme examples. Of course to sane people it doesn't make sense but for those people who are already on the edge it just gives them a reason to go crazy. I have seen things I have never thought I would live to see. People openly asking for the President to be shot. People signing petitions to secede from the Union. What is happening to us as a people?. As a race? I'm talking about the human race because color doesn't matter. It only matters to the people who have low intelligence and are emotionally troubled.
I think it is up to everyone of us to realize what is happening to our country and to speak up whether on the internet or offline about this. Whatever happened to shame? Shame is a good thing because it makes you realize how wrong you are but we have no shame anymore. We can sit behind our computer and advocate violence against any group or even the President and because no one knows that it's really us that makes it ok. I say enough is enough. The madness has to stop. Pray for America that we become better people and not the monsters that we're turning into. Thanks for listening. God bless you and God bless the United States of America. |

#10894 Posted: 12/13/2012 3:29:29 PM I told myself I would keep it secret until there is a winner. But I might announce it like the final week of the games. I haven't even given a clue to anyone. But since there are only like 2 of 97 people here. I'll say this. It's sports related and has a value of around $50. |

#10899 Posted: 12/15/2012 1:24:34 PM Once again we have to bury people in yet another senseless killing. Earlier this week it was my hometown of Portland. Now it's Newtown. When will the madness end. All the NRA nuts can think about is their precious gun rights. Nobody wants to take away your gun rights. I think everybody knows the 2nd amendment is vital in a free society. However with that said. It shouldn't be easier to get a gun than a credit card. Automatic weapons, including Semi automatic and assault rifles have no place in a free society and for people to continually defend that is repulsive.
How many more of these have to happen before we realize our culture is sick. Please don't tell me guns don't kill people that people kill people. That is an insane argument. The bottom line is when mentally and emotionally unstable people are able to get guns easily we're just asking for more tragedy.
The argument about if everybody was armed we wouldn't have this problem is another weak answer. We already have over 300 million guns in the United States and that hasn't stopped these shootings. It's a cultural problem that needs to be addressed. Our young people are sick. Too much hate in the country. Pray for America, pray for the families that lost their children yesterday behind senseless violence. Pray that our country can heal and recover to make us better people. |
