Better throw away your Nike stuff now haters....looks like you have another successful educated man who joins the side of scholars as opposed to the side of ignorance.

one last time, the head of police he reported to is the campus police, the ONLY police department with jurisdiction in the matter.  Phil Knight will be happy to help point that out to you.

Commenting on those events, Knight said, "it turns out [Paterno] gave full disclosure to his superiors, information that went up the chains to the head of the campus police and the president of the school. The matter was in the hands of a world-class university, and by a president with an outstanding national reputation."

Knight added, "...this much is clear to me. If there is a villain in this tragedy, it lies in that investigation and not in Joe Paterno."

Actually I was unaware that knight had commented on this issue, just to prove two dickheads stand together.

that makes a lot of sense, who is the dickhead?  you have contradicted yourself 3 times already.  you have bobby knight, phil knight and joe paterno as person heads, never met anyone call joe paterno a person head.

then you agree with the fact that while joe may have not done enough, he did do something and followed the proper channels.

you have 142 posts in 4 years, and at least 4 have come from this thread alone.  interesting.

"According to the investigation, it appears Joe made missteps that led to heartbreaking consequences. I missed that Joe missed it, and I am extremely saddened on this day. My love for Joe and his family remains."

- Phil Knight

"I have been deeply saddened by the news coming out of this investigation at Penn State. It is a terrible tragedy that children were unprotected from such abhorrent crimes. With the findings released today, I have decided to change the name of our child care center at our World Headquarters. My thoughts are with the victims and the Penn State community."

- Nike President and CEO Mark Parker

i was calling for paterno to be ousted 15 years ago--i even hired a contractor to eliminate him, but unfortunately he failed.

NO ONE can be in such a position of power for more than 30 years and not become intoxicated by it, and ignorant of what that breeds.

that is why sandusky never took another job--he knew that being under paterno's shield would protect him and his activities.

I appreciate your post. JoePa did a lot of things right. But watching Sandusky come in to his office every day would surely wear on you after a while............one would think.

Like the Saints scandal, it's not the lie. It's the coverup.

Happy Valley indeed.

Wow....nice find Detox.  Opinions are fine, but people who think they know everything before all the facts come out tend to end up with egg on their face.

How Paterno handled the Sandusky deal should not take away from the good things he did.  They are documented and they are tangible. But the good things he did in no way absolves him from the fact he looked away for over a decade while a sexual predator abused young man after young man.

That agreement included emeritus status of Sandusky, which meant he had a legal right to use the campus facilities. Joe Paterno did not have to ability to kick an emeritus professor off campus. And if you think he had enough power to do so, how then did he not have enough power to save his own job? I guess that you are also aware that after the 2002 incident was reported to him, that Joe reported it to his superiors, including the head of campus police, per protocol. I assume that you also know the exact dialogue between Joe and the grad student when the incident was reported to him...Please understand that I do realize that the actual facts are more than likely worthless to you, but I figured I'd try.

“The facts are the facts,” Freeh said of Paterno. “He was an integral part of the act to conceal.”

right... it was because joepa backed ford and bush...

Freeh’s investigation — which took seven months and involved more than 400 interviews and the review of more than 3.5 million documents — accuses Paterno, the university’s former president and others of deliberately hiding facts about Sandusky’s sexually predatory behavior over the years.

WRONG.  There are things I've done in my life that I'm ashamed about. I'm willing to take responsibility for those things.  Why should JoePa be any different?

i think u fail to read my other post in the college football program

i can man up and admit my mistake defending a guy who i had no idea would have done such an awful thing, "joe paterno" is the name of the thread.

but he did tell the chief of police, then according to an email in the freeh report decided to i guess suggest otherwise of what to do.  that remains a fact.

people like you and detox who want a pat on the back, a "bravo" that i was wrong and you were right are sad people.

this was already addressed.

and i am not going anywhere sweety
