@22

why the lightbulb emoticon?

Could the president also push congress to give tax breaks to corporations if they hire returning veterans?

That would not spend the taxpayers $$$ and would privatize the endeavor.

@24

If Obamacare is upheld, an employer would be better off hiring a veteran just to save on insurance costs.

I am guessing that Obamacare doesn't mandate covering a veteran who is already covered by the VA

You of all people should be supportive of a program that benefits vets.
Tax incentives that reduce revenue are the same in terms of cost AND they would be less effective for smaller business.

I am all for giving incentives to businesses for hiring vets.

Now why can't we incorporate the same principles to get people off of unemployment and welfare? Use the money we use to pay unemployment and welfare benefits to give to the recipients through jobs.

I did comment that it sounds like a good idea.

As far as tax incentives reducing revenue, that is another debate.

I personally believe giving business people more money to spend IE less taxes, creates incentives for businesses to expand, which means hiring more employees.

more employees = more money going into the government coffer.

But like I said, that is in ages old debate which neither side can seem to prove
