let's not get ahead of ourselves. newton was a big success last season. while the idiots at espn were following the tebow circus, they missed the best qb story which was newton's great year- middle of the pack in qb rating and a good td/int ratio for a rookie. however, i think we need to wait on saying newton turned out great. carolina wasn't exactly on a lot of teams' radars and they didn't play too many decent defenses. i think the next two seasons will tell us if newton can make it.

Not only that, does anyone really believe both these "can't miss" QB's will both actually live up to the billing of being franchise types and future HOF'ers? I figure at least one of them will not come anywhere close and possibly both. |

Nice take on the situation, aleoprist, you should post more - I see this is your 6th post in 6 years. So when you say something, its a good bet its worth reading. As a long time skins fan I just want to say- I feel your pain. But one thing you should know, this is the 1st time in Redskins History that we have drafted a Franchise QB - well soon to draft one - in the first rounds- Ever. So on that note, its about friggin time.. |

True, but he sure passes the eye test.
I think Washington gave up too much, but don't consider it as lousy of a trade as many here do.
It's been proven time and time again you need a big time QB to win big in the NFL. If they hit on this pick, they will likely say it was worth it. If they miss, it's complete disaster obviously.
I would have liked it a lot better if it was 2 firsts and maybe a 2nd or a 3rd rounder in 2014 instead of another first.
Chicago gave up two 1st rounders, a 3rd rounder AND Orton for Cutler. I get they don't have any regrets. But your front office better do well in the draft with your lower picks. |
