#4 Posted: 10/9/2012 2:05:19 PM All it is is a way to reduce the juice...unfortunatly, you now can lose OR tie, both of which wont make you a profit. They call it "gambling" for a reason. I don't mind playing -1 during the season, but in the playoffs I like an outcome on my wager in which $ changes hands. Hopefully into my hands |

#7 Posted: 10/9/2012 2:23:08 PM Why take -1 @+102 when you can take -1.5 @+150, why play for a push and win less...

#9 Posted: 10/9/2012 2:40:05 PM Sometimes it is worth it to play the -1 hook when a team is at home, but most of the time they juice the hell out of -1. If your planning on making a 2 unit play on a certain team, you can put 1 unit on the ML and 1 unit on -1 hook, so you still get paid if your team comes through

Some books will go -1 run, -1.5 runs, and the long shot -2.5 runs |

Yankees win 3-2. You lose the -1.5...you push the -1. Which would you rather? -1.5 (esp for home teams) is nothing short of a trap.

#13 Posted: 10/9/2012 3:29:52 PM @limover5*, post #6: even if a book doesnt offer -1, you can create your own -1 line by putting half your bet on the run line, and the other half on the moneyline.... this way if the favorite wins by one, you get a "push" out of it....
Eg, today reds are ml -140, rl +160...
Risk 140 on reds ml to win 100 and risk 100 on reds rl to win 160 works out to be the sames as risking 240 to win 260 on reds -1 |

#14 Posted: 10/9/2012 5:21:58 PM i am from WV
and i dont understans why you would not take cincy -1 they are at home and if they win by 1 you push an dif they win by 2 you win +102 but if they lose thats the only way you can lose
if you took them -1.5 you lose if they win by one
i dont know i would just rather have them -1 so if it does end up winning by one i still get cash back instead of paying 143 to win 100 on the ML
it just makes no sense to me why you would pay 43 extra bucks sausage then just 100 on cincy -1 am i making sense or what? i dn if there is a right or a wrong answer to this really |

#15 Posted: 10/9/2012 5:27:40 PM anyways final plays tonight cincy -1 +102 1u
oakland -1 +110
another question in the same game they have options that say cincy an doakland -1,-1.5 does that mean if you hit one out of 2 you push win both you win?
say cincy wins by 1 you push?
then say cincy wins by 2 you win?
what does -1,-1.5 mean...? almost the same thing i was doing???? because if thats the case i should have done that its +134???? |

#16 Posted: 10/9/2012 6:09:29 PM HAHAHAHAHAHA. This friggin guy!
You make threads bragging about a 3-7 day because you hit a +300 ML in college football, after losing your 10 unit play.
THEN, you don't even know how a friggin spread works.
Keep making new threads, because every time I see a thread from you, you have seem to out-done your previous thread.

#18 Posted: 10/9/2012 6:17:15 PM For real how do you survive in football? A baseball spread is the SAME EXACT THING.
If you have -1 in football and you win by 1, you push. If you have -1.5 in football and you win by 1, you lose. If you have -1 on a bet, and -1.5 on the same bet (say evenly like the -1,-1.5), and you win by 1, you push 1 bet and lose the other bet.
Nobody should have to explain anything else about this. If you don't understand it after this, you must have a learning disability.

#22 Posted: 10/9/2012 6:47:13 PM just stop with the 1and 1/2 and stick your johnson in the crack of the nearest door jam and then ask that dumb behind girl sitting beside you to slam the door. I think this will clear things up for you.

#24 Posted: 10/9/2012 7:14:30 PM Maybe this guy only called WVU ML because he thought the ML was the same as the +7, but it was +320.
