Above is a post, which is an example of the continued marginalization of the black experience in America by Whites, not only for the present day, but for the nearly four centuries that they've been a part of it.
Usually a 'Raw Deal' is comparable to getting a lemon off a used car lot from a crooked salesman.
But to people like Train, who have been indoctrinated from birth to both consciously and subconsciously devalue the Black American (which they hardly consider "American" and you see that theme echoed to the highest authority in the Country in the President with the birther attacks).
I wonder if he'll reconsider the definition of a 'Raw Deal' when he considers the following:
- 250 years of domination, exploitation, and subjugation of chattel slavery,
- 100 years of du jour and lawful segregation,
- having to live among, and have Black men, women and children die, get harassed, live in constant fear and threat of the nation's first true terrorist organization (as it was defined by a federal grand jury in 1870) which found its genesis through the targeting, terrorizing, and lynching of Blacks,
- have the Supreme Court even after alleged "Emancipation" (what does that mean without ample resources?) wait approximately 100 years to determine that Blacks should have equal access to housing, education and health care, three of the most basic necessities of life that whites enjoyed in full all that time (talk about being fashionably late),
- have that law fail to be enforced; if enforced at all, for decades as their was no adequate monitoring or surveillance of claims of racism and/or outright prejudice within those institutions, with that very law languishing in terms of effectiveness today lacking any real effective oversight ;
- have all the the greatest leaders of the Black community, not limited to Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and Medgar Evers the three most well known among many, assassinated while fighting for Black Civil Rights in the 1960's (the list of all other Civil Rights leaders/fighters killed is quite lengthy and their deaths quite horrific);
- have that terrorizing of the Black community not limited to adults but extended to children in 1963 when 4 girls, the oldest 14 and the youngest 11 killed in a church bombing in Alabama that held Civil Rights meetings for Blacks (notice the trend of mass murder around the signing of Civil Rights legislation as Whites ramped up their terrorizing efforts to intimidate and stifle any and all Black autonomy, regardless of age or gender) ;
- have a drug war started by Nixon and ramped up to full throttle by Reagan that primarily targets Blacks and minorities as whole, a nonviolent crime, imprison many multiples more than any industrialized nation on earth, keeping many within the system under parole (denying them the right to vote, get school loans or employment) and habitually tearing apart the Black community and family as Black men were plucked from mothers/wives/children, all the while the evidence showing that Blacks use, possess and distribute drugs at equal rates compared to whites which again, is outright racism and terrorism of the Black community to support the criminal justice system which pays police, prosecutors and judges and funds Prison Industrial Complex as a whole;
- all which leads us to the present day which I have spoken about extensively with regard to systematic and institutional inequities in housing, education, employment and health care...ALL of this, because one is Black skinned...
THIS is a "Raw Deal" to people like Train.
Choose your words carefully Train. You will be held accountable for them...
And yes, it appears I know a little more than you and your ilk on this topic.
